My Jehovah Witness parents spent the week with me at my house. When I suggested to watch a movie with them I thought we would watch the movie "Avatar" I got on blue ray. They were so shocked as they waved their hands in front of them saying, "No way! That's Demonic and from Satan!" I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness for 20 years and have not been to the kingdom hall for 12 years, but to me Avatar is no more different than "Star Wars" or "Star Trek" and we watched those when I was a kid. Can anyone explain this?

I'm going to the Kindom Hall to please my parents
by Joshnaz inmy parents are visting from florida and i agreed to take them to the kingdom hall for a meeting, but i'm just doing to make them feel comfortable while they are here.
i told them i'll be sitting in the back with jeans and sneakers playing with my i phone.
i made shure they didn't get any wrong impressions about me returning to the kingdom hall.

Twitch--I will make sure they know that for no reason do I want to or will return to the kingdom hall but I am just doing this to make them feel comfortable.

can't remember whether it was jersey or guernsey as they alternate, have been to both as we went to the channel islands in 2005 too.

My First Halloween! What should I wear?

it's important to me because in all the years that i went d2d, noone ever gave me candy!.
anyway, i was planning to wear one of my old nursing dresses (not a naughty nurse skanky one) with the old school white cap, and go as nurse rached.

I just want them to be comfortable and I know if they don't go they'll be uncomfortable staying with me. Its the first time in over 12 years I have been able to spend some real time with them. they hav gotten over the "shunning thing" and have moved on to respect my wishes to not continue being a JW. Its only nice of me to take a painfull 1.5 hours to please them.

I haven't gone in 12 years. i know it wont effect me, its just like one time one friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to a baptist church. i went to because he asked but never was interested and never had the inclination to return.
