Does anyone here celebrate holidays? Why?
by Rocky_Girl ini didn't originally celebrate anything, but when my oldest son started school i decided that it was unfair to put him through what i went through in school.
i have to admit that i am loving the holidays, even though some of that old mindset tries to make me feel guilty.
we focus on what the holidays mean to us as a family and enjoying time together.

BTW... I've never seen anyone beheaded at any birthday celebration I've ever been to in my entire life. I think this is strictly taboo ... oh, and ILLEGAL nowadays!

Right on, LouBelle! In addition, there's the WTS's main symbol 'the Watchtower'. Watchtowers are used as guardians of the 4 directions (North, South, East, and West) in Wiccan ceremonies. Go Figure.

by looloo ina disfellowshipped friend of mine was recently kindly informed about this by her jw mother , i presume they are meant to eat the billions od dead bodies , as my friend is a big lady she informed her mother they would get a good feed off her!!!
i actually think saying that to your child is a form of child abuse no matter how old they are and think it so sad that small children would be sat at meetings listening to that information and feeling so scared , i wonder if that information is actually accurate and where it comes from , does anyone know ?.

I can't eat this stuff. But then I grew up on a farm so I know where those pig heads (snouts, ears, etc) have been! (Same as chickens feet!)

Lady Lee ... repetition is essential as there are more and more people searching the internet for information about the WTS. I just started a year or so ago and I'm no spring chicken. Even though I'm not a JW, I've been affected by those clowns in Brooklyn my entire life! The experiences we've all had, and continue having, need to be told... and they need to be documented.
Your story is one that many can relate to, including me ... and is very sad. My heart goes out to you.
I am very thankful for the YouTube video you made discussing the criteria that defines a cult. It was an eye opener for me! Your formal education also adds a much needed dimension. Please keep doing what you're doing.

Calling off Your Wedding Engagement

i was always told that calling off your engagement was a big deal, and highly frowned upon in the org.
was this true in your part of the world, or was this just a local thing?.

- Post-Secondary School Education is Forbidden... except if its Watchtower related
- No More Birthdays/Christmas/Easter/Mothers Day/Fathers Day/ ... and all round general fun!

J.R. ... I am sorry to hear about this. Many years ago, when I was a child, my mother told me that Satan's primary goal is to break up 'the family arrangement'. When I read about these kinds of stories, as well as looking at my own family, my only conclusion has to be that the WTS is being lead by Satan. You are wise to have left. I do believe they will miss you though. My MS father misses his grandchildren and his son.
