Darkknight, excellent video segment.
As to what Tony says, I don't need anybody explaining anything to me about why they don't want to get baptized. I say DON'T GET BAPTIZED... EVER!
ok, i'm willing, and thinking about going to the meetings, but there is a catch.
i'm not, nor ever be a jw.
i know too much about their beliefs.

Aroq said: My kids do have the option of not going, but they get the guilt card played on them.
In ancient times, people were tortured when they refused to convert to the Christian belief system. 'The guilt card' is one of Christianity's modern day torture methodologies.

Sure, sure. Until the Borg starts pushing them at 13... then 14, then 15, then 16 to sign up. It's going to get worse as the membership dwindles.
it should be mandatory for s.c.justices,judges and attorneys to take a four year course.
on the history of religion, bible and the koran.iam sure they would conclude that religion.
has little value in society.there would be no such thing as religious accommodation(lawsuits).
I agree. The religions of the world are basically lying to their members. I know I was manipulated and maneuvered through the Bible by the JW religion. As a kid you don't have the option of refusing your parent's chosen religion.
Religion is legalized fraud. Once you step outside of the confines of the religion you were born into and take a broader view, it all crumbles.
so last night we get a phone call from our girl & she tells me the above.
turns out she has been d'ed for a month.
infact she made me turn off the speaker phone so her dad wouldn't hear & i could tell him quietly later.
I was never baptized and my JW family never talk to me except when someone dies. I guess that's considered 'necessary family matters'.
time to take a break from debating religion.
take in a breath of fresh air and be healed by the wonders of nature around you.. how many of you have a garden?
how many have a nice flower patch to go with your vegetable garden?
Kaik, those pics are very beautiful. Thank you for sharing them with us.
My old, dead Echinacea and Monarda plants are still standing even after the ice storm. I leave them so the birds have seeds throughout the winter and early spring. I will likely cut them off in May, remove the seed heads, cutting up the stalks in small pieces and putting them to the beds. They assist with mulching the soil and returning nutrients to it (for free!).
In Ontario, Canada, we normally start cutting the grass around the middle of May.
I woke up to at least an inch or more of snow this morning so I'll have to get out there shortly to shovel. This is spring in Canada ... LOL!
l;ve been giving this some serious consideration lately.l dont have all the answers no one does.we are all entitled to our opinions.l certainly dont believe in evolution as lve researched that subject extensively.lt's important to believe in something even if its for mental health.l believe everything happens for a reason.l also believe if we all live as close to the 10 commandments as possible this world would be a far better place to live and no one can argue with that.

So you're not Christian if you believe this. And now you're just making it up as you go along. This is the next to last step to becoming a full fledged atheist. You're almost there atomant.

The Egyptians believed in an after life before Christianity was invented. The Christians have adopted and then adapted a lot of Pagan beliefs. Christmas, for example, is the Pagan holiday Yule and the celebration of the 'birth of the sun' aka the Winter Solstice. Christians changed the date slightly and called it 'the birth of the son'.
If you want to convince people of a certain faith to convert to yours, I guess you have to adopt some or maybe most to all of the other faiths' traditions. And then, when they don't convert, threaten and torture them until they do.
the wicked rat race of the watchtower claimed another victim.
despite conducting 5 bible studies, and distributing thousands of magazines, i decided the pressure of being super pious was just to heavy for me, and i decided to just cool it.
this is when i discovered the business is full of people who are " not very nice" .
Back in 2010 I set foot inside my Dad's former Kingdom Hall to take him to a 'memorial', aka funeral, of one of his JW friends. It gave me the willies/creeps. Couldn't wait to leave. The local pedophile was there too.
This is probably the last or next to last time I'll ever set foot inside one.
today's text:.

60:22.. perhaps we live in an area where there are few witnesses or where we do not see a lot of immediate results in our preaching work.
Hey sir82, you can expand this further. How many books did they place in a week, month, year from the cart witnessing? That person who took the book may have needed some fire starter. I'd use it as carbon material for my compost.
Time shows just how slow this 'life saving' work really is and how useless it is as well.
And where is Armageddon again on the great timeline of life / human history? A 100% NO SHOW, that's where.
here is an excellent article from the salt lake tribune on the issue of having "god" mixed with politics.
the author makes the point that gods are merely a reflection of people's egos who just happen to say whatever it is the believer wants to believe.. here are some excerpts: .

cofty, that is awesome. We have various political leaders, aka Prime Ministers, from our country as well as the Queen of England.
VI, yes, I noticed that as well. Somewhat dishonourable as a Christian I would think.
