The Mormon religion was founded by a fraudster. That's really all one needs to know. Runaway!

Why does anyone leave their religion? Because lies veiled as 'truth' and hatred veiled as love don't work. -

Beyond the Kingdom Hall.
by The Rebel inthe religoios lessons themselfs are not missed, they were actually quite dull, and i realize i learnt nothing of value from them.
instead a quite evening at home playing with my boy is more endearing.. yes my life has moved on, i occassionaly see members of my former congregation in shopping centers, or they are putting the kids in to the back of the car and inside i believe most of them have bottled it, they prefer the comfort to the " truth" who am i to expose the can of worms.. many of course can blame parents or grandparents for having grown up as outcasts in school and i hope if they do leave like me they hold no resentment.
indoctrination is a terrible thing, and even false prophecy, royal commissions, and proof that many of the elders in the congregation are complete and utter shits won't change them.

Wait until you go beyond Earth, beyond our solar system.
So far, we have discovered 12 other planets in the habitable zone of stars in the Universe. There are probably many, many more. If life has evolved on any one of these planets, how many of them do you think have Christians on them?

Today's Text - Draw Close To God... (BUT HOW???)
by Divergent inhere's where i stand at the moment: i neither categorize myself as a theist, atheist, or agnostic.
i'm a freethinker and do not have a specific belief at the moment, unless something comes along which is 100% conclusive & convincing.
which brings us to tackling the elephant in the room, something that today's text has failed to do:.

Isaiah 45:7: "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." – KJV
Proverbs 3:11-12: “The Lord punishes everyone He loves. He whips every … [person] He receives.” – NLV.
Matthew 10:35: “For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—“ (NIV)
I have zero interest in any god who does this crap.

It is now official: Another falsified Watchtower prophecy
by ILoveTTATT2 in"jesus was obviously speaking about those who were old enough to witness with understanding what took place when the 'last days' began.
... even if we presume that youngsters 15 years of age would be perceptive enough to realize the import of what happened in 1914, it would still make the youngest of 'this generation' nearly 70 years old today.

My Mom's parents were born in the early 1890s. They are dead. All of my family born on or before 1914 have died. So have all of these people:

Forecast for tomorrow is calling for rain with possibility of snow. It won't last but we haven't hit May 24th yet here in Ontario which is supposed to be our last frost free day until the fall. I have dandelions, plantain, wood violets, and chickweed growing in the lawn.
I am getting into foraging. I ate my first dandelion blooms and wood violet flowers in my salad for lunch this past Friday. They are growing free in my backyard lawn. While picking them, I had a taste of both types of blooms and they were quite nice. I haven't tried the dandelion greens yet as I know they are bitter. Apparently the root is edible as well. I have been munching on the chickweed too but have yet to put it in my salad.
My columbines are budding up - they should probably bloom next week. The Monarda and Echinacea have greens coming up and my sage plant also has green leaves on it now. Of course the chive is up and some lettuces that self-seeded from last year are also up. Waiting to see if any tomatoes self-seeded.

Challenging JWs at Cult Carts
by cofty inif i have time i always talk to jws when i see a cult cart.. they are in a public forum promoting a harmful ideology therefore they are fair game.
having said that, the individual jws on the trolley are not the enemy so i think it's better to keep it as friendly and non-confrontational as possible.. being realistic no jw is going to admit they are wrong because of something we say to them on the street but don't underestimate the long-term effect of doubts.. so what are your ideas for how to approach them?.
personally i like to use the literature on the cart.

Use the free literature from the carts in your gardens or compost as the carbon material needed to provide energy for microorganisms while they break down organic matter. The literature can also be used as a barrier for unwanted plants when starting a no-dig garden. Turn disinformation into good news as you grow food to eat.

"Death will be no more" - ONLY earthly blessing?
by TheWonderofYou intodays daily text refers to a new?
explanation for doorkeepers that "death will be no more" would only refer to an earthly blessing, because it would be logically according to the text that in heaven no one ever died or death had never been there.
seems like wishful argument for the earthly paradise.. dont forget the 144000 members of the heavenly class that will receive heavenly blessing after death and used for decades rev.

A few years ago I began to read and research, in earnest, information about our natural world.
Very early on it became crystal clear to me that in order for life to exist on this planet, death had to occur. Death sustains life. This nullifies the ancient attempt at rationalizing why people die and the belief of 'the fall' and original sin.
It also became clear to me that the homo sapien species is just one of millions, possibly billions, of species that live on this planet. There are millions of species of insects alone. Humans are part of the ecosystem, not separate. Our place is really a very small one in this system, when we consider the vastness of the number of organisms living on Earth. This nullifies religions' arrogant ideal that the Earth was perfectly made for us.
So many concepts taught by religion fail when studying the actual systems of nature on this planet.

God's Word and Modern Man
by TheLiberator ini have drawn the conclusion that when god speaks, he is using the language and the concepts of the time.
he is not revealing a new scientific understanding when he speaks.
that would be distracting from the point being made.
