JWs don't do too well...
i was raised a catholic until the age of eight which was a normal life.
my mother took everything the jws said literally and this destroyed my schooling and education.. the issue that i have with this religion is that they contradict what they say about education and elders encourage parents to prevent kids from gaining a college or university education as the jw objectives should be the primary goal in life.. they sometimes seemed to encourage education and recently i checked and now they are saying that education leads to alienation and suicide.
they state that university leads to immorality and drug taking.

JWs don't do too well...
visiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.
he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.
after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.
LOL, I never understood why pre-studying the meeting material was meant to make the meeting more interesting. All it means is you've read the same dull crap twice!
Also the three in one format is awful. 35-40mins of book study which is normally quite dry, followed by the student talks - often by people who cant read well, song and then 45 mins of 1) do more ministry, 2) obey direction in some insignificant matter, 3) local needs, otherwise know as DONT MISS MEETINGS.

It's true, there're a lot of snarky or resigned comments from elduhs I know that people who regularly mised the book study but attended the other two meetings are now regularly skipping the mid week meeting. It's causing difficulties for the KMS when people dont turn up for their assignments...
myth: parents who are jehovahs witnesses.
force their children to follow their faith.. fact:witness parents strive to inculcate love.
for god in their offspring, just as the bible.
Publisher and theocratic ministry school at age 5.
Never miss a meeting Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday, never miss Saturday ministry. Answer in every book study at least 3 times and the Watchtower at least once because you need to set a good example because your Dad's an elder.
I dont remember being given a choice. Ever.
do you think that we are in the last days?
i really don't think we are in the last days.
i came to the conclusion that 1914 is false and is no more than another year in man's history, so hence we are not living in the last days prophesied by jesus.
We might be in the last days of western hegemony. We might be in the last days of this particular type of economy.
Last days before a JW envisioned Armageddon? No way.
should christians drink water?.
how refreshing it can be to satisfy oneself with a cold beverage on a warm day!
many christians choose to do this after a long day of zealous kingdom preaching.
we know that whole blood, as well as white blood cells, red blood cells, plasma, and platelets are expressly forbidden by God's Word, the Bible
LOL classic.

She clearly needs firm discipline to up her game, little Andre(a) in Yearbookistan is already conducting 50 bible studies before school every morning.

Following on from Brother sir82, the fine points I gleaned from Sunday's Watchtower is that like Abraham we should be prepared to sacrifice our children to the point of death (and beyond if needed), and like Abraham we should be content to die without seeing any of the promises made to us fulfilled. We should not have different opinions like Korah or we will die. Also SUBMIT or DIE!

many threads on the overlapping generation...how do you explain it briefly to a ex-jw or jw on the edge?.
Simply - The generation who saw 1914 passed away so the society expanded the term 'that generation' to include people who were alive when the generation who saw 1914 were alive.
That simple explanation would get you called apostate though, so to a JW on the edge:
Since society teaches the last days began in 1914 and Jesus said 'this generation will by no means pass away', our current understanding of the term generation encompasses those who saw 1914 and those whose lives overlapped with them. So if, for example you grandmother was born in 1912 and lived to see your daughter (her great grandaughter) who was born in 1993, they are deemed to be part of the same ovrerlapping generation.
