  Some Brief Thoughts on Conti's Win against the WTBTS

  as a former elder who dealt with more than a few pedophiles, i want to express how happy i am for this victory.. for sure, it has to be viewed as a symbolic victory, and it in no way makes up for the pain of the tens of thousands of victims that have lost so much.. but nothing will change until it is exposed.

  additionally, this kicks the gb where it hurts the most, in their over stuffed wallets.

  while i still maintain that this will not in any way "bring down" this cult, it is my hope that the publicity will wake up the younger members, esp younger elders, and that the growth of this cult will stop.

  I hope this causes some of the older, experienced elders to consider resigning, once they realise that if they were elders when the 'dont tell' policy was in force their own homes are at risk!

  i beleive there are many who know some of the things they hear and read are whack, but stay because they think it's still the group god has chosen.

  but there are ways to voice your opinion without being too vocal or disassociating:.

  Hermano: Now, what if all those people realized that many others within the org feel the same way they do?

  I'm still in, by a thread, and I realise there are many more of the "conscious class" around, however I dont know who they are, they dont know who I am - it's too dangerous. WHile the society has the weapon of disfellowshiping and being able to cut your family off from you, the stakes are too high.

  If I were to start talking around, I might confirm my suspicions and possibly find out that Elder X still talks to his disfellowshipped son more often than 'family business' would call for, I might also discover Elder Y's wife is getting her batchelors degree and calling it 'working part time'. I may discover that young brother Andre doesnt believe in 1914 at all, and half the congregation doesnt get the new generation theory.

  But confirming any of that is not worth losing my family.

  at first the sparlock thing was just a cute little diversion.

  the icon of an amusingly out of touch cheaply produced dvd.

  somehow it has spiralled into a kind of focal point of society bashing.
