The WTS "Brain Drain"

i posted this on another thread and am pasting it here to start a new one because i would be interested in getting others' thoughts on it.. there has been a downward spiral in the quality of the written publications since the death of fred franz in december 1992. whatever else can be said about franz, the man did have some education and his writing was of good quality.

others in the writing department also had some skill and command of language that gave cogency to their work.

but since franz's death, a huge leadership vacuum has opened in the wts.

The target audience now is composed of children and the illiterate.

The only hefty doctrinal point of recent years is the 'explanation' of the overlapping genneration, and they've cocked that up so badly they have to pull an 'emperors new clothes' routine on the dubs aka, "if you dont understand it it's your fault for not studying enough".

To any lurkers who are thinking that they can't quite grab "the deep things of God" remember this phrase:

It's not too DEEP to UNDERSTAND, it's too STUPID to BELIEVE.

Start trusting your own mind, and stop waiting on Jehovah. What if this is the only life you have?

as it should be expected, the governing body of jw's are not willing and will not accept me as a "prophet" because according to them, jehovah only communicates trough them.... .

Is the Governing Body overdue to make new appointments?

i'm doing some research for a new blog article on the governing body.

it's in a question-and-answer or "faq" format, and attempts to give simple but well-founded answers to most questions that people could conceivably ask about the governing body.. one thing i noticed when looking at the history of the governing body is that we seem to be in the middle of a lengthy "dry spell" when it comes to making new appointments.. gerrit losch is currently the longest-serving member having been appointed in 1994. however, his appointment came at the end of a 17 year period in which no appointments were made.

this contrasts notably with the remarkable six-year period between 1971 and 1977 when 15 members were added.. since losch's appointment, 4 members were added in 1999 (herd, lett, pierce and splane) and 2 more recently in 2005 (morris and jackson).. the seven year spell since the last appointments were made has seen the deaths of barber, barr, jaracz, shroeder and sydlik - cutting the number of governing body members almost in half.

LOL what do they need new members for?

The 6 or 7 of them seem to have agreed they'll try continuing the hard line towards education & disfellowshiping.

Any new boys from the same overlapper class could upset the balance.

NB - I'm surprised they havent come out with any Elijah / Elisha stuff to justify the GB 2.0 overlappers.

No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?

apologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.

some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.

anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

Rained 3 days solid, toilets backed up & overflowed. Consessions charged £2 for a cup of instant tea or coffee.

Or so Ive been told by people who were trying to sell it to me...

In the olden days, conventions used to have wider ranging themes:

Victorious Faith!

Integrity Keepers.

But since 2003, EVERY single convention theme can be turned into a sentance by adding "by doing what we tell you" to it:

2003 - Give God Glory
2004 - Walk With God
2005 - Godly Obedience
2006 - Deliverance at Hand!
2007 - Follow the Christ!
2008 - Guided by God’s Spirit
2009 - Keep on the Watch!
2010 - Remain close to Jehovah
2011- Let Gods Kingdom Come

Oh that's a good point, I can confirm that at the DC I went to nothing was said as usual about loving arrangements in place for next years conventions.

Complex PTSD and Ex JW's

i have been diagnosed with complex ptsd by my therapist due to events of abandonment and abuse as a child.

the cult experience of being raised as one of jehovah's witness was a major factor.

i think that the sparlock video and the conti case has brought emotional flashbacks to some of us here, so i wanted to post information that i have found helpful.

Why I truly come in!

hello everyone.... i would honestly like to share why i come to this site when i am able to.. i too, like many here spent my whole life inside the wt along with my husband who was born in.

(i was 6) we have raised three wonderful sons now 27, 23, 21 who the youngest was almost 7 when we left and we were disfellowshipped.

(for so-called apostacy of course)and since then all of us partake of the christ by eating and drinking the manna and his blood.
