exJW Psychology 103--Let's Reconsider "Confidentiality"
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inover the course of decades as a jw, an elder, a bethelite, then learning ttatt and wanting to leave, i'd collected a lot of insight into the power of "confidentiality.
" although the confidentiality in a judicial hearing is supposedly to protect the sinner, in actuality, i saw that it was about control and was protecting the power of the jc.. i didn't use any of this knowledge until i was called before the boe because the other elders figured they had grounds to remove me as an elder.
it was a work situation that only lasted a matter of hours, but it was enough that they seized the moment.

2013 Drama: "Show Yourself Attentive"
by breakfast of champions inthis is the first of three "dramas" this dc, and i have to say, it was one of the weirdest dramas ever.
i won't go through all the details.
maybe someone else wants to throw in their 2c.. it starts out with two men standing on the "beach" talking, but it took me awhile to figure out what in the hell was going on.

boc, I just listened to that whole thing. I feel a little sick.
Wife gets pregnant so Ethan has to give up his circuit overseer dreams.
Daughter gets killed in a road crash with grandpa.
Ethan has low energy and gets fired.
Ethan is diagnosed with a cancer sounding illness.
Ethan gets young son to draw a picture of an ostrich and a zebra.
They read the book of Job.
The bad experiences 'help' them to endure the great tribulation.
Keren-Happuch guest stars as 'legendary beauty"
Yes, that is the weirdest drama ever.

exJW Psychology 102--How to Ask a Question When Questions Aren't Allowed
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite innow that enough time has passed and i've moved away, i think i'm overdue to share some of the stories from my fade.
i've mentioned some of this before, but i think it deserves its own thread.. we all would like to be able to freely ask questions about jw beliefs and get our family and friends to really think about certain questions.
however, when you're a baptized jw, you really can't ask any good questions or you'll get the "apostate" label slapped on you!

Oh I do love the kangaroo question. I've used it several times. - I've had this conversation:
How did kangaroos get from mount ararat to australia after the flood, without leaving a shred of evidence of habitation along the way?
They hopped.
Ok, how did the koala's do it?
Maybe they hid in the kangaroo's pouch.
What about the duck-billed platypus and the tasmanian devil?
Err God magic.

When did people of the Great Crowd start to appear?
by wizzstick inquick question, faithful followers of our treacherous hearts... .
i should know the answer to this but.... so the great crowd class were identified in 1935, but does the wt suggest when it's members first appeared on earth?
all first century christians were of the annointed (i think that's right), so when do they think the first of the great crowd rolled up?.

They are making it up as they go along *jazzhands*
Of course, a few whacky doctrines wouldnt matter - most religions have them - but you are under pain of disfellowshiping if you disagree with any of this and talk to other witnessess about it.

The get out / explanation is that the correct terminology is "potential members of the great crowd", or "great crowd of other sheep". What is seems you're looking for is when 'other sheep' started to be gathered. I remember talks on the nomenclature of "great crowd" and "other sheep".
Of course, most other Christian religions teach that when Jesus was talking about the little flock and other sheep he was talking about Jews and gentiles.

Final Warning Given Unto Mankind, Tribulation Is Near and Soon Cometh.
by OneTrueGod inverily, thus saith the creator of all things of life and light which are good.
behold the time of tribulation draweth near and is soon at hand; i am in the sun, and the light of the sun and it shall soon darken in the day you perceive not.. .
let this be a sign unto the world that tribulation cometh quickly, the day which darkens soon cometh upon the world.

"The figtree soon shaketh" its booty?
Why doth thou needeth to speaketh liketh thou hast swallowed a Kings James Bible?
Just FYIeth, the King James Bible was written in the vernacular. As was the original Bible. SO any message from God or prophets today would be written in the language of the people. You get me bro?
Sackcloth, babylon, behold and hearken? Oh FFS.

Atheists for Jehovah
by slimboyfat inthere are hundreds or thousands of websites on jehovah's witnesses with all sorts of slants, but i have never come across any specifically for atheist jehovah's witnesses.
has anyone ever seen a site for atheist witnesses?
i think it would be a great idea, and we could call it atheists for jehovah, as a counterpart to the atheists for jesus.

slimboy, you may have seen it already, but the reddit site for exjws is majority atheist / agnostic. It's basically where the kids who want to leave the KH hang out while they're waiting until they can leave home.

My JW Experiences and Living in No Mans Land
by wizzstick inlots of proper pioneering (90 hours), lots of calls, lots of studies, lots of interest.
enough to make it all interesting.
driving this buzz was the sense that armageddon was imminent.. my father was never a jw, and was very opposed.

slimboy, "atheists for Jehovah", Ha I know exactly what you mean.
I think many are just "cultural JWs", in it for family and friends. They defend the society because that's what they've always done & it's an ingrained, reflex reaction. However if you could really drill down into what the 'cultural JWs' believe I think you'll find, that they would never shun their own children (even though they'd expect their own parents to shun them), they wouldn't stop their children from going to college, they don't really think gay people deserve to die, they harbour independent thoughts about a lot of stuff and I doubt many would be able to define let alone defend some of the more esoteric beliefs.

Should I just DA or get DFD?
by Julia Orwell inmy never-a-jw dad told me today that mongrel jws who turn on me were never truly my friends and i'm better off without them, so why worry if i get disfellowshiped?.
i fear being disfellowshiped because my name will be dragged through the mud.
i also think it might be a good idea to da or get dfd because then the link is broken and the fade is over.

Hi Julia, do what makes you feel better.
If you want to DA, do it. Just be aware that the announcement for DAing and DFing is the same, so no-one will know of your stand but the elders. If it's important to you to leave the door open for friends who might want to talk to you in time to come, then just walk away.
You don't have to make their admin easy for them.
I do hope you find peace of mind whatever you decide to do.
