  But okay, so what? That email is full of implications and leading opinions but doesn't actually come out and state "so our family decided not to watch this film because we think that it implies hindu blue demons are prophets" - or whatever the author thinks they're implying.

  It's a fine example of witness logic. No firm conclusions, no assertion that can be examined, but a hint that something is bad, and the devil is lurking.

  has anyone heard of curse on JW regarding fertility?

  while in jw i knew so many women who had trouble falling pregnant or had trouble keeping babies to term including my own family.

  out of us 6 girls only 2 could fall pregnant.. i've heard since leaving that the masons have a curse on them that effects fertility, since the founders of jw were masons has it passed on?.

  the bible does talk about curses and that they were generational.. is this an urban myth?

  I know of a few JW families with 5, 7 or even 10 children. Of course this is more than made up for by the childless pioneer couples.

  well it's very close.... i knew this would kinda happen at some point in my life.... still you only realise the full extent of the situation when you are facing it.. i never was a 'hard core' jw and all of the 'secret' boyfriends i've had were non-jws.

  present one included.

  except now, we have decided to get married and i have the most unpleasant task ahead of me.. 1) i'm indian, so dating isn't really accepted as the norm and most parents are very conservative.. 2) my mum is a jw and i was raised as one (though i am an atheist now, but she doesn't know this!!

  Hi MisfitMel - First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  If youre baptised, and still 'active' i.e. go to meetings and out on service, as soon as it becomes known you want to marry a 'worldy' man you will be 'marked'. (whatever you do, don't admit fornication) A local needs talk will probably be given, putting the frighteners on anyone who wants to go to the wedding. i.e. anyone who attends would have their priveledges removed.

  If you're baptised but inactive, they'll probably just council your family not to attend, and maybe try and get some shepherding visits in with you.

  What did Jesus mean by "this generation"?

  I've always had a suspicion that Jesus was talking to the people he was talking to.

  I think that makes me fall into the preterist camp. 30 years studying WT interpretations & my enthusiasm for prophecy has drained away now.

  Mill Hill Disfellowshippings

  a few months ago there was a thread about a couple of elders at the mill hill bethel being disfellowshipped because they disagreed with some wt doctrine (i can't recall exactly what it was) and that several other betheliteswere under 'investigation'.

  i haven't heard anything since, does anyone know anything more about this?.

  this was a favorite way of getting away from the very unloving "loving brothers and sisters".

  hide in the toilets, no one can collar you and tell you off.

  and even better you won't be in amongst a group of people but still feeling so alone... at least you will actauly be alone!.

  Maybe, with this thread, we're discovering the real reason why the queue for the sistahs loos was always so long?
  Half the cubicles occupied by people hiding out being tired / bored / lonely / exhusted!

  Toilets, the true "shelter from the storm".
