By the way Reniaa I'm curious. How many hours are you counting for this thread on your time slip. Must've been a whopper. Heck, one of these threads per week and you'd meet the dub-publisher national average without even breakin' a sweat.

Reniaa,
Your post up top says:
"Yes I agree there are false prophets the bible says so and as I said above the scripture shows what their fruitage is and it gives a handy list in Jesus's own words, which you avoid using by jumping to the more ambigious deut scripture to try and make dates prophecy but the context of that one shows that they make up a prophecy and put times on it nothing to do with eagerness over existing bible prophecy."
I'm calling your bluff. Can you please provide a commentary on the highlighted portion as to how you determined the context says "that they make up a prophecy and put times on it" which has "nothing to do with eagerness over existing bible prophecy." at Deut. 18:20-22
Because I just read the passage and it most definitely didn't say:
“‘However, the prophet who presumes to make up a prophecy and put times on it that I have not commanded him to make up or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die unless he was just showing eagerness over existing bible prophecy. And in case you should say in your heart: “How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?”when the prophet makes up a prophecy and puts times on it in the name of Jehovah and the made up prophecy does not occur or come true, that is the made up prophecy that Jehovah did not speak, unless of course he was just showing eagerness over existing bible prophecy. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it unless it was in connection with existing bible prophecy. You must not get frightened at him.’
Here's the passage for your reference (NWT):
“‘However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart: “How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?”when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. You must not get frightened at him.’
Notice that nowhere does this passage say that the prophet has to make the claim to inspiration, but merely "presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak".... "and the word does not occur or come true"

Reniaa,
Are you still there? Please stop. You're embarrasing yourself. I'm embarrased for you, seriously. I know you gotta get your preaching time in somehow but please don't do this to yourself anymore. It's apparent to any outside observer that the only person on here you're trying to convince is yourself. At least as it turns out you are the only one convinced by what you repeatedly say. I mean no offense or anything but it appears that all of your "new" responses to everyone on this thread are just rearranged regurgitations of your prior responses. When you go head to head with some of the posters on here the only thing I can compare it to is like watching a highschool dropout debate science with a quantum physicist. It makes for some good entertainment but after awhile it just gets redundant. I really am feeling pity for you right now. Just some friendly advice!!
I wanted to quote part of one of your posts here.
"when you start teaching a message that isn't in the bible like trinity or immortality of soul etc then you are a false prophet" Check out this WT quote. (WT 8/15/81 pages 28-29) "They say that it is sufficient to read the Bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home. But strangely, through such 'bible reading,' they have reverted right back to apostate doctrines that commentaries by Christendom's clergy were teaching 100 years ago..." .....Strange how 'bible reading' leads a person to the same conclusion as "Christendom's clergy", which teachings incidentally pre-date WT theology by roughly 1900 years. .....Here's a thought....No one has ever become a Jehovah's Witness by reading the Bible alone w/ out coaching of some sort by a JW or WT literature. If you know of any please correct me and I'll look at the evidence.

Reniaa,
I'm fairly new to the forum and after reading a few of your posts I have to say you are definitely a glutton for punishment. I usually stay in the background and read but I'm a little confused on this statement you made:
"wrong dates for bible prophecy is not prophecy, at worst it is wrongful reading of signs"
Could you please elaborate on the above statement?
I mean, the way I'm understanding your logic is that I can take scripture, attach dates to it, promote it, and if it doesn't come true then it's ok because I'm just being eager. Right? All I need to say is, see, it's "bible prophecy", God put it in there I didn't. It's not my fault I'm reading the signs wrong. Who's at fault then? God?
Also, somehow I'm quite certain that if a different body of Christians did just that and it became public knowledge the WT would have a heyday pointing out how "Christendom" is a false prophet so they could further their claim to being "the Truth".

I'm sorry but I can't pass on this one. I mean these guys in the picture really give a new meaning to the phrase "hold your head up high".... Go, Go gadget neck.... Must be subliminal for the fact that you have your neck stretched (die to all rational thinking) upon being assimilated into the borg.... I know... that's wrong....sorry....couldn't help it!!

Signs of Being Controled by Satan
by Satanus inone of the major ones is not believing in satan.
so, if you don't believe in satan, chances are about 100% that he controls you.
if you do believe in him, you chances go down to about 50%;).

Reading the bible by itself w/out a WT is definitely a sign...
Any sort of a supernatural experience......those stopped when the bible was completed, the WT said so......

We are NOT serving a manmade organisation - Bible persuades us?
by hamsterbait inanybody remember the study, at least four years past.
where the borg said we were not to use the words "the society says" - in case people think we were baptised into serving a man made organisation.. in the same study we were told not to say things like "celebrating birthdays/christmas etc is against my religion" otherwise people might think we are a "member of a cult.
"my understanding of the bible (hahahahaha) persuades me to avoid unscriptural celebrations.".

hamsterbait here you go....
Our coming to know "the truth" - the entire body of Christian teachings that has become part of the Bible - and adhering to it are essential for our salvation. - Watchtower December 15 2008, pg 28.

"Isn't this saying God doesn't care? If you think a birthday is a sacred day, fine. If you want to be like the JWs and think each day is nothing special, fine".
I agree with "Isn't this saying God doesn't care? If you think a birthday is a sacred day, fine"
But, since no one has ever become a JW by just reading the Bible alone I'd have to disagree with "If you want to be like the JWs and think each day is nothing special, fine".
If a person were to come up with that kind of thinking on their own then more power to 'em.
Unfortunately JW's only think that way because they're doing what they're told, under threat of annihilation at Armaggedon. They've let another man or group of men force their matters of conscience onto them and tricked themselves into thinking they came up with it on their own.
Romans 14:5
One [man] judges one day as above another; another [man] judges one day as all others; let each [man] be fully convinced in his own mind.
Col. 2:16
Therefore let no man judge YOU in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival or of an observance of the new moon or of a sabbath

Clarifying the Trinity Doctrine
by UnDisfellowshipped insince there is so much confusion among ex-jw's, jw's, and christians in general about exactly what the trinity doctrine is, i decided to post this to clarify this teaching.. the historical trinity doctrine of the christian (protestant and catholic) churches has always been this:.
* there is only one true god by nature.. * there are three distinct persons who share equally the nature of god.. * there are not three different gods (that is the false doctrine of tritheism or polytheism).. * there is not one person who is revealed three different ways (that is the false doctrine of modalism).. * however, each person of the trinity does have his own "role" or "function.
" the son willingly obeys the father.

Was it Jehovah?
Or Was it Jesus?
Or is it possible that Jesus is Jehovah (the Son)?

I usually just stay in the background and read but I would like to point something out to possible-san and see if I can get an explanation.
If the Father and the Son do not interchangeably use the name Jehovah (the name which is applied to God in totality, not to one individual within the Godhead) how do you explain the following?
Zecheriah 2:10-12
“Cry out loudly and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for here I am coming, and I will reside in the midst of you,” is the utterance of Jehovah. “And many nations will certainly become joined to Jehovah in that day, and they will actually become my people; and I will reside in the midst of you.” And you will have to know that Jehovah of armies himself has sent me to you.
So did Jehovah here refer to Himself in the first and 3rd person?
Or did Jehovah (the Father) send Jehovah (the Son)?
Wasn't it the Son who would be coming to reside with the daughter of Zion?
Also please consider the following...
Zechariah 11: 12,13
Then I said to them: “If it is good in YOUR eyes, give [me] my wages; but if not, refrain.” And they proceeded to pay my wages, thirty pieces of silver. At that, Jehovah said to me: “Throw it to the treasury—the majestic value with whichI have been valued from their standpoint.” Accordingly I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw it into the treasury at the house of Jehovah.
Matthew 26: 14,15
Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Is·car´i·ot, went to the chief priests 15 and said: “What will YOU give me to betray him to YOU ?” They stipulated to him thirty silver pieces.
Who was valued at 30 peices of silver?
