Creator or Evolution? Confused...

i don't feel i have to know the truth about how life started or where we're coming from etc, but can't help thinking abt it anyway now and then.

guess it's only natural.. right now i feel really clueless and that i have too little knowledge abt the darwin, big bang theory.... (i was always taught by the dubs that darwin questioned his own theory...but was it really so?)..

i have a close friend who's sure of the evolution but can really the complex and wonderful life and nature come abt by chance (even though he says it's not chance...).

My advice would be to ask God to reveal himself to you. I know we were cautioned against it as JW's but the bible encourages it.

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

As far as evolution is concerned, I don't know that it necessarily trys to discredit creation. I guess in some circles it can be used that way. Maybe it did or maybe it did not play a part in how we got to this point. But nothing can take away a personal revelation.

I'd have to say the most amazing, heart wrenching miracles I've witnessed, although I've seen major debilitating diseases healed, is the power of the Holy Spirit overcoming someone in the pits of despair (so called castaways of society, drunks, homeless, depressed, suicidal, or just average folks etc..). When you're preaching the actual gospel of reconciliation, the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (the power of God to salvation) and you pray someone through repentance and acceptance of Christ as Lord and see them transformed right before your eyes by the Holy Spirit, never to return to a debauched, hopeless lifestyle, there are no words to describe that. That's the true power of the Gospel unadulterated.

I pray that some day all JW's will get to witness the real working of the Holy Spirit.

I received a miraculous deliverance myself upon my exit from the WT to Christ. I struggled through a good portion of my adult life with over consumption of alcohol, even as a very active dub. As did/do a large number of "responsible" brothers I know. I did everything I could from prayer to going to the elders to counseling to you name it with only minimal short lived success. I surrendered to Christ and asked for deliverence from this problem and within days it was gone. I haven't looked back since. For a person to give credit to the Devil for that is a slap in the face of God.

here is the quote from the nwt and i also looked it up on numerous other translations and they all used the word before.. .

Holy Spirit impact in the JW religion = nada in my experience

Holy Spirit in the WT = more flesh works

Holy Spirit's impact in the JW's life = more door-to-door, more meetings, yadda yadda

I have actually seen the Holy Spirit in action in numerous ways since my conversion to Christ. Just experiencing God's presence the very first time was something that was foreign as a JW.

That means all other gods are false gods, right?

For those that do chime in using this scripture to discredit miracles.....

Matthew 7:21-22 (New International Version)

21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'

It doesn't appear from this passage that the miracles and such were the qualifiers for rejection but the following is....

23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

All this seems to be saying is that just because you are producing outward evidence of following Christ it's possible to discredit those works by your lifestyle.

Otherwise please explain the following scriptures...

Mark 16: 17-18 (NIV)

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

John 14: 12 (NIV)

Didn't the Pharisees also claim that Jesus' miracles were from the devil, also, didn't Jesus say that they were blaspheming the Holy Spirit when they said this, which is unforgiveable?

just to confrim, do jw's believe that jesus is divine?.

not that jesus is god, which they obviously don't believe, but that jesus is divine, with the divien qualities of his father?.

also, do jw's beleive or agree that, in the new covenant, jesus has the primary role that was god's in the old covenant?.
