sorry for the long title.. i don't belive this will happen for a second.
but its an interesting question.
there you are at armargeddon, and god asks you " why you left the jw's?
If I ran into "god", I'd ask him what drugs I'm taking and ask if I can get some more.
Then I'd poof him out of existance and take his spiffy chair.
Then the real fun would begin.

we were at a party (get-together in jw speak) and somehow the ones i was talking with changed the subject to a talk given by the co that "the end is closer than we think.".
i just sheepishly asked the group ... "i don't understand that phrase, "the end is closer than we think.
" i said my parents told me i would never go to school, then later that i would never graduate from high school, and that i would never get married.. then i mentioned my parents were expecting the end to be in 1975 ... my grandparents were expecting the end numerous times in the 1920's and 1930's.. so i very nicely asked, "isn't is more correct to say "the end is farther than we think?
"The end is closer than we think."
That phrase implies that the speaker knows: A) When the listeners think the end is comming, and B) When the end will actually come.
As the speaker probably doesn't know A, and certainly can't know B from a biblical standpoint - they are clearly full of sh*t.

they are saying alot about how evel the internet, how it is used to spread lies, half truths ect.. most people have access to it and can check anything that the wts is saying and has said and wors't of all they can't control it..
Half truths ect.
Yes, and the 'half truths' they should be most worried about are the ones they themselves printed. With the internet, you can often find and read the full context of those seemingly too-good-to-be-true quotes they find for their literature.
They made their bed, and now they don't want to lay in it.
(But most of all, they hate the thought of losing power over their followers. The easier one can network outside the organization, the less weight their threats of disfellowshipment have. They are losing power over people - and they like power.)

one of the words of today was concentric - sharing a common center.. which set me to thinking about eccentric - out of center.. i've been told that i'm eccentric.. have you ever been told that?.
thanks.. syl.
Being "eccentric" on the internet doesn't count.
Fortunately, being eccentric in the real world is easier than you think!
Voilà! You're eccentric!

* It works best if the "random mushroom" is actually a store-bought mushroom, but hey - if you followed these instructions exactly, you wouldn't really be eccentric, now would you?
i thought this was funny coming from a sitting president.. even though the majority of the time obama seems to try to display a passive, or easygoing way with his words.
you can tell from this interview that the oil spill is finally getting to him.
he is hearing about it everywhere he goes and.
We need to get this thing fixed, not look for asses to kick.
Obama: "We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know who's ass to kick."
I interpret that as meaning not "who to blame" - but "who's got the best solution and, thus, who needs the most motivation to get involved in the situation".
Personally, I want to know which gas stations are selling BP oil, so that I can 'vote with my pocketbook':
And BP's history regarding the environment:
Also:
"In 2008, BP was awarded a satirical prize, the "Emerald Paintbrush" award, by Greenpeace UK. The "Emerald Paintbrush" award was given to BP in order to highlight its alleged greenwashing campaign. Critics point out that while BP advertises its relatively minimal investment in alternative energy sources, the majority of its investments continue to go into fossil fuels.[91] BP was also one nominee for the 2009 Greenwash Awards.[92]

if you have interlinear or look one up online, go to jude vs 5-7. now almost all bibles, including nwt go something like this....
"i desire to remind you, depsite your knowing all things once for all time, that jehovah, * although he saved a people out of the land of egypt, afterwards destroyed those not showing faith.
and the angles that did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place he has reserved with eternal bonds under dense darkness for the judgement of the great day.
Whenever I read people trying to figure out the nuances of bible.. all I can think is...

i am not presenting this as directly relevant, or with an specific angle on the jw issue, so much as just on it's own merits as a really great take on phenomenon of social conformity:.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trniufrso8i&feature=player_embedded.
"we can be self defeating in our conformity: say we have a group of people holding opinion x. unbeknownst to the group, half of them secretly disagree.
Very interesting - and I think quite applicable to users on this board. As he points out, the more you identify or agree with a group, the more susceptible you are to conforming to group opinion rather than remaining true to your own viewpoint.
Thanks for the video! Definately food for thought.

i was thinking about having the washer and dryer downstairs in the basement.
i would like to know what should i convert laundry room to ?????.
it is not going to be the bathroom, any ideas, suggestions.
If it's next to the master bedroom - a wet bar. You've already got the plumbing. ;)
(My laundry is in a closet in the master bedroom - making it perfect for a little bar. Unfortunately, it's also perfect for doing laundry in, since I don't have to take my clothes downstairs, and I don't use the bedroom during the day, so having the noise in there is fine.)
EDIT: Oh, missed the post about it's position. Sounds more like a place for a storage/utility/coat room.
