Hi -- bonzaison is a friend of mine. After showing me some of the posts here I felt a bit guilty. Then a few days later I decided I'd get my own account so I could post too. I have been a Jehovah's Witness since childhood. My mom and grandma studied when I was a kid and have good memories of visits and talking and just sitting there enjoying the new people in our home. I liked the colorful books like the Live Forever, and the Bible stories book too of course. Had some counseling issues about my clothing being appropriate attire at the Kingdom Hall. Never got caught for heavy nekking though I didn't dare do more and I know my folks would have been devastated if I got restrictions. I love my parents. Leaving now would wreck so many family relations. It's tough and I was hoping this web forum helps people deal with stuff like that.

So I went to dinner with a big group of Witnesses last night - No Biblical discussion or WT talk of any kind

there were 20 in the group from 3 congregations.

it was kind of a "special talk" special meal with the speaker and his wife.. no one, i mean no one, not the elders there, nor the pioneers, talked about anything "spiritual.

" everything was about work, entertainment, personalities in the congregation, and music.

Very seldom at a get-together will you hear "spiritual talk" going on--yeah, you hear about plans to auxiliary and other stuff like that- but not about anything spiritually enlightening, upbuilding, nothing like the Jesus talk that you hear from Born Agains, and definitely nothing like bringing the scriptures out to make a point, that would just seem to be too boring for people and you probably wouldn't get invited to very many get-togethers if you had a reputation to be a brother or sister looking for a pulpit to make spiritual points. At this last get-together I went with a dozen or so people there the talk was about how long our life expectancy would be based on our genetics, and from our family history compared to environment, nobody, not one person said they didn't worry about such things because they'd be living in paradise soon. I noticed this but didn't speak up, I did feel like I should have shamed a few people by saying something just to be mean, but I caught myself and didn't say anything. It was better that way, anyway.

Meetings suspended in Mexico due to swine flu

meetings and the service has been suspended in mexico according to this pro jw site.

apparently all co's are getting letters to forward to say they can do the service by telephone or letters but not door to door.. the site is in spanish.

I know a couple, he's an elder and they have several children, who just left on a second honey-moon trip to Mexico. They left their kiddos at home of course with other family. But I imagine that the scare of the flu is probably not going to make it as nice as their first time going down to Mexico--although I'm not sure how much they left their hotel the first time if you know what I mean. However I hope they don't get sick for their kids' sake. And if they bring it back to their family and get everyone sick that would be awful. At school there was an announcement if you spent spring break in Canada or Mexico you needed to check in with Administration. That was scary--I mean not for me, but just hearing that they're taking this so serious makes you wonder if you should be a bit more panicky or worried.

Was There A Cover Up About The "Air Force One" Plane In NYC Yesterday?

some are saying that having a "photo-op" makes no sense and the fact that the mayor of nyc knew nothing about it raises eyebrows.. what do you think?.

I don't see a problem. If I had been there to see it I'd been excited to know what was going on, but I wasn't at NYC during 9/11 so for the poor people that went through that a big noisy plane may aggravate them.
