last night i called to do the "check-in" thing on my mom.

she had just been to the assembly and she was all fired up and decided to give me an earful.

apparently, at the assembly all in attendance were told that "this is it" the end is nigh and they should do all they can to prepare for the impending destruction about to befall everyone.

This sound familiar to me to. I got told Jehovah will soon be sorting the sheep from the goats, and what will be my standing?

It's really hard to think that my mum thinks I am going to die - it must be really upsetting for her, kind of like watching your child with cancer. I feel sorry for her, and know she only means well, but it angers me that the WT has ingrained this kind of deluded thinking in it's members.

i cannot count the times that, when dubs arguments are demolished with quotes from their own literature and practices, they resort to this statement in sheer desperation: well, at least weve got the basics right.

New Tract-Youths What Will You Do With Your Life

i was wondering if any of you have read this tract that was given out at the district convention .. i found in this tract they are pushing the fulltime ministry more than ever before.

they in so many words say if you are not a fulltime minister you are not serving god.

it stated that youths today should not strive for academic success.

So this is a recent tract? Not surprising at all. Do you have any direct quotes to share with us from the tract? I have commented on this issue many times. I was wondering how long it was going to take for the society to crack back down on higher education.

Over the last 5 years (in AUS anyway) JW youths were no longer really discouraged from higher education, in fact, completion of high schoool was encouraged. Lots of my peers went to uni and college, and are just finishing their degrees. As a result, they are basicaly alot smarter than the JW's from the generation before.

Now back comes the "Fulltime ministry" rubbish. Why?

Because young ones are becoming too educated at uni, that's why. Because uni also comes with free access to the internet anytime you want. And we all know what that leads to. LOL

I wrote to the UN

i wrote to the united nations friday so that i could get the information about the watchtower's association with them from the proverbial horse's mouth.

i want to show my parents that what i'm saying about the watchtower is not just something we evil "apostates" made up.

what i received was the exact same letter that i've found on the web, but since these are addressed to me (addressed to my email addy) from officers in the un maybe they'll actually take a look.

Do you get disappointed if no one responds?

writing should be for our own edification - a personal cleansing, therapeutic at the least.

if you write for other people's approval, you will be disappointed, especially when you share your thoughts on the 'net.

i've seen many folks get 'burn-out' from these boards b/c they don't get the expected respond to their post.

>Damn, stinky, I wish I got a letter, I wrote a letter to them 6 months ago, and did'nt receive one back, I then followed this up with 2 e-mails, but no response. The reply was really important to me, as I know it would have really affected my parents, as they still insist that the WT did not agree to support the UN charter. It is important that I have the letter sent to me, and not something from the net, as they won't look. What can I do? Can someone give me some advice? Should I just keep writing to them? Is it coz i'm from Australia, should I send a pre paid envelope for them, or what?

can someone tell me if there is a clear statement, preferably from the u.n., that shows the watchtower's dishonesty in this matter?

not long ago, i was discussing the u.n. situation with a jw friend.

he decided to call the wt legal department in this country.

While the topic's up again, I also have a question: In the letter I received beck from the WT bethel, it quotes something like this:

"Registration papers that we have on file contain no statements that conflict with our christian beliefs"

My question is, has anyone actually written back and requested copies of these papers? Has anyone received any?

I am thinking of doing this myself, but want to know if someone has done this already.

satistics can be flexed to represent anything you want.. personally i know of out of a congregation of 89 .

my daughter & son in law who is an elder, three elders wives , publishers 4. another daughter that refused to accept the witness life style.

my wife just before she died had to be on prozac.

I knew of many people who suffered from depression in the org, although I don't know if I would go so far as to say they suffered from this BECAUSE of the org.

I can only relate my own personal experiences -

I suffered from depression in the org.

I suffered from anxiety in the org.

I now have quite bad paranoia and anxiety, from what I KNOW was because of my experiences in the org.

But, I am working through it and getting alot of help, and as a result, I am much happier now.

I do not beleive that this organisation was one of "happy people" that's for sure.
