The fawning of the elders over the visit of the CO the DO their brown lips and noses after the visit highlight their obvious inclination to suck up to them.

i must confess: i took my apostate brother out to lunch and paid for it with my www stash.
i hadn't deposited my money in a long time, so there was about $30 in there.. .
Paying for literature at the counter, wasn't a wise move by the society, they should have stayed with the paymenty for literature and payed their fair share of taxes and they would have been further ahead. As far as donating, there were several parts covering the fact that the congregation wasn't "donating" enough for the literature that was free. Makes one wonder what they are going to do now that all one has to do is pick up literature at the counter if they need x amount. I'm sure once the $$$ comes up short again, that there will be more parts of donating for the "free" literature.
It's all a $$$ scam and thats all it ever has been since Rutherford's day.

Moshe's comment that the needier your are the faster they forget you, or something like that is very true, in my experience, i remember a family years ago, father laid up in a bed at home had major major back surgery, no money coming in, it was brought up to the elders and not once did the po, secretary, his book study conductor, or any other but a new elder ever come and see him, His situation was brought up in an elder's meeting and then quickly shoved aside as there were more than a few there that didn't like him and thought he was missing too many meetings. My family tried to help as we could as they had absolutely no $$$ coming in and were really destitute, the congregation didn't even pony up any $$$ to help that family, no did any bro's come and mow lawn or help out in any way. It was out of sight and out of mind.
as you read in the title, the elders from my congregation want to have a chat with me...which could be about to things...either why havent i gotten baptized ( since ive been in this since i was born...ive been tortured all my life lol) or either because i have a worldly boyfriend.. i dont know what to say in either case!
i cant say i dont want to get baptized because i have to appear to like the religion til i graduate college cuz my mom pays for it and is pract blackmailing me with it, and i cant say tht i will cause i hate it!
and about my boyfriend they will either give me advice about why not to be with him or convert him...so i dont know what to say to to pacify them and not let it get to me...so any advice?
Jesus' example 30 years old, that is what you arewaiting for, also your Mom should be blocking them away from you, you are 13, tell them, you aren't my parent and i don't answer to you. That is what i told my children to tell the elders when they wanted to meet with them, and that is what i told them too. You guys aren't their Parent(s) I/we are and quite frankly, my children don't answer to you and you leave them alone.
Oddly enough that is all it took, because they didn't try to bother them anymore.

Terry, can't find it now, but i think that you had made a comment on a post about people passing the good books on the Bible and Biblical histroy etal to go to books on REv. and others that have numerous books on that same subject i.e. Rev.
Which books do you recommend for one to study about early christianity it's history and how the bible was written, rewritten etc.? would appreciate any recommendations that you may have.
