  Knew him years ago, was surprised when he was on the most wanted ped list in USA. In fact had been out in service with him and our families.

  Were you aware of the shunning policy when becoming a JW

  for those who became jws, were you fully aware of the societys cruel shunning policy whilst studying?

  i absolutely had no idea such a policy existed until years later.

  it really only hit home when reading the horrendous stories on the internet around 2002. .

  I wasn't aware of all or in fact any of the negatives during studying only a few years afterwards. My neighbor was in a study being friends I informed him of the negatives, and he subsequently told them to take a hike, he evidently mentioned me as his source and being pissed off the couple who had been studying with him called Bethel on me I just told them to leave get off my property or I would remove them physically, they left. Never heard anything about it afterwards.

  Elders took it upon themselves to assign various brothers maintenance duties without even asking then first. I was assigned outside maintenance once and of course didnt do it. When the assigning ass asked me why told him I don't work for him nor the congregation and that he was an ass to even think so. I also told him I don't remember volunteering not giving you power to tell me what to do so get the hell away from and leave me alone. He of course told my booking study conductor and so I Told the conductor he didn't have the power either. The book study was held at our house so told him you have to find another house as you are no longer invited in mine and neither are the rest. That didn't go over well with the elders but I didn't care, Surprisingly they never bothered me again.

  I started my first " Mens Gym" session today

  i`m no fitness fanatic by any stretch of the imagination though throughout my life i have strived on & off (more often than not , off ) to maintain some level of fitness activity.. i retired about 10 years ago and for the first few years i joined two table tennis clubs , social activity,though not anymore.. and i have become more of a couch potato these past few years with the internet and netflix and the club as my main concern of activity if you can call it that ,and it has been bothering me ,so finally i did something about it.. only a few doors down from me is a medical health clinic with a gym that caters for seniors like myself , so i bit the bullet and joined up .. and i`m proud of it.. if it kills me in the process then i`ll die doing what i want to do at my age.. sorry to bore you with this post ,but what did you expect a future mr. universe ?.

  Am 68 workout daily with weights and do body weight workout with dips, approximately 2,000 of them a week, some weeks a lot more, only have dumbbells and two curl bars and 90-100,000lbs a day with them, workouts are 3-5 hours long. Makes me happy.

  Taking the Step

  first time posting after years of reading, the things i have learned here have gradually helped to open my eyes to the reality of this religion.

  though i have been mentally out for some time, lately i have stopped going to meetings and service.

  the elders are calling and i have been ignoring them, i am trying to get up the courage to finally break free and never go back.

  When I left I just walked out of a meeting and have never gone back, and have never missed it, nor have I missed the supposed "friends" there. They the elders anyway never came by except the COBE one time. I had been out mentally for years prior only staying to support the wife, after her passing, I attended two meetings then bam I was gone. My daughter who never bought the bs was very happy about it. Best thing I could have done.

  Hurricane Matthew: Relief help report is too vague

  when jehovah's witnesses report on their relief work, they seem to purposefully remain vague.

  all i get out of such an article is this: don't worry, no one you should worry about died.

  but there are a lot of damage and we are here to help the survivors.

  Sculpt you are so correct, I had asked our Done who he and other relief workers from our congregation if they in fact had asked that the monies from the insurance companies be given to the society? He said yes, he believed that those monies would be used to help finance the relief work. Knowing the society they just put that money in their coffers. The idea of free doesn't exist in the WTBTS world everything has a cost. I remember if you wrote a check don't put Katrina relief work on it and that is why we didn't donate.

  Worship of Men and Emphasis on Titles

  i remember a few years back at a circuit assembly, a few bros were introducing themselves to the co, they made sure to mention that they were an ms or an elder from such and such cong.

  i was also an ms, but was the only one that introduced themselves by just my first name.

  i was so irritated and blown away at the arrogance by these bros, trying to impress men with titles!

  When was studying was at a convention with the one who was supposedly teaching me, he introduced me to a guy who actually introduced himself as so and so and that he was bethelite i just looked at him and said SO, well he just ignored me and began talking to guy i was "studying" with. Guess he must have thought I would be impressed, I wasn't.
