  Do You Have "Contempt" For The Witnesses?

  i totally feel disdain for the organization.

  I don't have contempt for all Witnesses.

  I have contempt for those who hold holier than thou attitudes.

  I have contempt for those who have loyalty to an ever changing and flip-flopping belief system controled by an oligarchical Governing Body.

  I have contempt for those shameless hypocrites in the Governing Body who approved of Mexican military draft evasion through bribing officials and condoned the persecution of Malawi believers to the point of torture, rape and mutilation. When I read C. of C. I was appalled at the pharisaic hypocrisy of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses and it sickens me to this day. They are definitely worthy of contempt!

  the "priscilla" deliberations.. gb subcommittees now re-considering role of women in the organization.. example of phoebe as "diakonos" revisited.. could women be appointed to ministerial servant positions in view of the need in congregations?.

  Selling Sacramento, CA Convention Deal to Skeptical Public

  i live near sacramento, ca and earlier this week the local convention authority held a big deal press conference announcing a "deal" with jehovah's witnesses (see clip below).

  based on comments to local news media on their websites, more than a few people are not too crazy about the idea..... i heard an interview on a local station where the head guy [of the convention authority] was defending (sounded very defensive) the city's deal with the dubs, by saying "well, they'll bring hotel dollars, food dollars, and they'll be visiting all of our local museums, evening life, and entertainment attractions.....so the monetary impact will be huge for us...".

  specifically discouraged from doing any of those "extra" things..... hope those attractions aren't hiring more employees to handle the witness "crowds"........ also, during the interview, he said that the convention authority would be able to select the dates for the various conventions.

  On my screen OUTLAW's dog is above the subject line, with his signature, the dog is just laughing away.

  Yeah! I noticed that too. And eventhough I think it's sickening...

  it is amusingly funny in its own way. I may have to re-think my disgust of OUTLAW,

  if only he'd apologize for being a jerk to me in posts, and I might do the same.

  Wow... now that would be a cry of PEACE and SECURITY!

  And... OUT4GOOD: I agree, what are they doing making 5 year deals if Armageddon is "imminent."

  Sort of takes the hot air out of "imminent" doesn't it?

  the wt prides itself on closely following first century christianity, well, at least preaching.

  the bible indicates that christians met in homes, often presided over by the owners of those homes.

  they are now commonly called house churches.

  For some Witnesses the Family Worship Night is turning into a mini bookstudy.

  Some people are getting together, sharing meals, doing Bible readings aloud and freely commenting.

  That sounds a lot like a First Century House Church doesn't it?

  My parents don't go for that, but we don't have a "regular" FWN anyway.

  Dad's too busy with 'other' theocratic stuff and Mom is too tired.

  Asking for money at the hall.

  i don't go to the meetings anymore for i am fading, but a short while ago something happened in a meeting i'd never seen in my entire life as a jw.

  the local needs discussed the fact that the local branch had bought a new kh for a whopping 1 million euros.

  that's insane, but not the part that got me.

  Yeah! It's happening in this area too.

  In our congo the pubs were expected to write down how much they could give on a monthly basis.

  Now after a couple of years of the numbers not adding up and meeting expectations, there are

  local needs talks reminding the pubs of their "yes" meaning "yes" and "no" meaning "no" and

  that they promised a certain amount each month.
