A People for His Name
by AGuest inmy lord: "if that is true, that such term was "by divine providence," is there any other name they need to identify themselves by?".
those who also identify themselves by other names.
my lord: and they use such to identify them... with regard to who they belong to... and distinguish themselves from those they do not belong to, do they not?".

JWF, thanks for the letter, it does sound authentic.
It has the hypocritical and self-serving tone of the WTS.
I hope it comes back to bite them in the a** and many
more ex-elders end up becoming conscious and leave.

another hero!
I agree. You're a hero for remaining cool under fire HK!
I loved the parting scripture you gave them 1 Corinthians 4:1-4
" Let a man so appraise us as being subordinates of Christ and stewards of sacred secrets of God. Besides, in this case, what is looked for in stewards is for a man to be found faithful. Now to me it is a very trivial matter that I should be examined by YOU or by a human tribunal. Even I do not examine myself. For I am not conscious of anything against myself. Yet by this I am not proved righteous, but he that examines me is Jehovah."

JW's and home schooling?
by semelcred ini don't wish to offend any that are teaching their kids at home, but today i was again confronted by a situation where a jw family were home schooling.
the kids had little structure to their routine and without putting the mum down, she was no teacher in an academic sense.. the subject is close to my heart because my parents who are witnesses, took my younger brothers out of school and home tutored them.
the were subjected to below standard education and limited in social skills, particularly as my parents are crap at these skills themselves.. i have grown to hate home schooling except in the situation of medical or logistical situations.. what are your comments good or bad and do you think the option to home school is abused by the witness community?.

Ninfan05 I heard of that school before, correspondence school if you can call it that, mostly online now. The kiddo who used it wasn't doing much studying, and the parents weren't doing much teaching. When I was in school six hours daily in boring classrooms the homeschooling arrangement sure looked good. But I guess I have to be thankful for the learning I did receive and the fact that I learned some social skills and can manage my budget, etc. But you hardly saw him in service and me, I was expected to be out every single stinking weekend when all I could think of was getting extra sleep.
The now 26 year old who got Pearblossomed still lives at home, like I do, so reason for me or him to boast how preparatory our different experiences were in getting "a life". :-)))

Did you ever witness a "green handshake"?
I did. It was so obvious, elder extends hand with folded wallop of bills, CO shakes and pockets and the both of them are talking away like nothing doing and the exchange was very automatic. I didn't think much of it at the time. In my family sometimes we've helped the CO and COW (CO's Wife) with a twenty in an envelop with a little handwritten thank you card, but this was very obviously the big leagues of "green handshakes".
Some in the circuit were known for giving "presents", laptops, and other electronics, to help the CO in his "work" of "shepherding" the Circuit. It is all just paying tribute and bribes for recognition and privileges in the end.

The really sad thing about this is that people like Barbra Anderson and Jim Penton have their hard earned good reputations tarnished by being associated with the Kool-Aid man and this drivel.
Well put. It's like getting news from the Enquirer as opposed to the New York Times. If the reputation for sensationalistic articles takes away from the sincerity and veracity of the news reported then anything appearing in the program will sound like it is just that, sensationalistic drivel and nothing more, even if this time is true. Sort of like the boy who cried wolf too many times.

I just read this thread in going back through the archives.
It seems to me that the SRA claims which are sometimes made in the Six Screens show are way too sensationalistic to be even partly true.
From the recordings of Six Screens shows I found that the discussion of sexual abuse topics often comes up.
Doesn't it stand to reason that adding sensationalistic stories which are not fully proven only adds to the feeling that the WT is victimized by crackpots?
What do you think? Do sensationalistic stories about Satanic Ritual Abuse add or take away from helping to bring down the WT?

I and the Father are one. John 10:30.
by dgp ini'm not that good at quoting the bible.
i see no value in learning verses by heart, sorry.
however, i just learned that in the new world translation (the organization's bible), john 10:30, jesus is said to say "i and the father are one".

Poor Cofty is being attacked and he's been made to be the bad guy...
anyway that's how I see it.
Also "Hebrews 1:8-9." There's no "O" in Hebrew, there's no commas in the original line in Hebrew. The word God could be referring to it being the throne, the seat of power for you is God, since the next line says, "your God", how can he be the same? That's the problem with the Trinity it isn't logical that two are differentiated and yet they are the same.
When Jesus said that "the Father is greater than I" it makes it unambiguously clear that there was a time when the persons of the Father and the Son were not equal but one was higher, if this is the case the Trinity couldn't be in force since it calls for all three to be equal and eternally the same.
We humans can't really fathom the singularity of God to the extent required to know how exactly the Father and the only begotten Son are united. It's like trying to produce an Einstein condensate, you have to go where no human has gone before. But only by explanation from the Son we come to understand the Father as Jesus said.
If the word isn't in the Bible how is it Christians need to follow this teaching blindly? If it was so important to belief and salvation it would have been treated with more importance in the Scriptures, instead the Scriptures don't mention the word at all. Isn't that the problem some have with the name Jehovah not being used in the Greek Scriptures, and yet we know that the Greek Scriptures quote from the Hebrew/Aramaic Scriptures where the name is present.
Jesus Christ and him crucified and resurrected, that's the foundation of Christian faith and the promise of salvation. The Trinity belief isn't necessary for salvation then, according to Scripture.
BTW the whole thread so far has only been dealing with TWO persons not THREE, so where's the Holy Spirit in the proof texts that don't prove much about the Trinity above?
