Is apostate an appropriate term for us?
by sleepy in.
how do you feel?do you like to be called apostate ?.
apostate just means: someone who renounces a former belief or principle.. to people who have never been witnesses it may not symbolise much.but to witnesses the word means a lot.in many of their minds it is synonymous with evil and perverted.. since it jw's who will likely call us apostate not others the term almost always has a bad or negative useage.. but it does identify us as people who have completely rejected the religion.. so is it good for us to use it or not?

by comforter inthere have been many sages who walked the face of the earth.
the wisest man who ever lived, however, is jesus christ.
jesus made an impact on history that very few men have matched.

tha birds and tha beez - ADULT content
by bonovox inok, lets see if i can do this without getting carried away...lol.... allow me to pose a hypothetical situation:.
you have known john and jane for a couple of years now, and so far they appear to be the perfectly happy 'normal' married couple.
they seem totally into each other and when in public usually can't keep their hands off each other.
-
Incense_and_Peppermints
nope. feels too much like being blind-sided. if they were interested in that, they should feel you out over coffee and find out where you're at individually and as a couple, then allow you to go home and talk about it privately. but i might call the girl up later that night and ask her to be my playmate... (husband fully aware, of course)

JW's the best looking people ever?
by terafera ina sister that studied with me once told me that if you look in the halls, you will see some of the most best looking people on earth.
she said that sisters are far prettier than worldly people because they keep themselves so 'pure' and brothers were much manlier because they knew how to 'protect women and take the lead'.
i dont know about that!

She said that sisters are far prettier than worldly people because they keep themselves so 'pure' and brothers were much manlier because they knew how to 'protect women and take the lead'.
she assumes that all 'worldy people' are screwing each other senseless night and day in crackhouses, or something.
ah... 'manly brother'. now there's an oxymoron...
besides, free spirits like us are way cuter than those bland little people still in captivity, don't they know that? sheesh.

oog, how awful. that poor tormented soul. my niece takes 7 meds every day and told me all these stories, virtually everyone she knows is on paxil or xanax or prozac her ex's whole family (except the dad, who is an overseer. how odd that his whole family is on medication except him. hmmm.... anyway she said that a friend of theirs got all whacked-out from paxil. he was mildly anxious and rather than deal with it by way of cognitive behavior modification techniques, subliminal healing, or therapy, his parents put him on paxil and he started losing his mind. you know what else is weird she's 24 and when she goes to the doctor her mom takes her and the doc never even talks to my niece, but to the mom, as if she's 2 years old and then the mom shares what she wants with her daughter. i know this because my sister told me so. the doc said to put her on lithium so she did and two weeks into it she tried to commit suicide and said she felt dead inside and her thoughts limping along like they had broken legs. anyway my point is i wonder just how much the parents/wts contribute to stuff like this. note: i'm not talking about this particular incident, because it's terrible what happened to that man, especially the 'brains' part... :(

You might want to modify the subject of this post because she does post here sometimes.
she does? i would like to give her a big hug. the truth always shines through, no matter how much they try to cover it up, deny it, or slander someone...

...and our experiences. just musing... first, a poem...
The Garden of Love
I went to the Garden of Love
And saw what I had never seen:
A chapel was built in the midst
where I used to play on the green. And the gates of this chapel were shut,
And "Thou shalt not" writ over the door;
So I turned to this Garden of Love,
That so many sweet flowers bore. And I saw it was filled with graves,
And tomb-stones where flowers should be,
And priests in black gowns were walking their
rounds
and binding with briars my joys and desires.
-- William Blakethat's always been one of my favorite poems. and so i thought about stories, songs or films that interest me and realized they all have a common thread woven through them - of survival, or isolation, or a wasted life, or escaping oppression, or rebellion, or about one person making a difference, or following your own heart, etc. for example:
the shawshank redemption
the remains of the day
the age of innocence
the accidental tourist
alien and aliens (i luv when the queen gets it!)
the manchurian candidate
lorenzo's oil
office space
1984
romeo and juliet
farnham's freehold - robert heinlein
war day - whitley streiberdoes our experience shape that much who we become, or our tastes in books and films, men/women, even if we have worked to overcome it?
anyway i'm just musing, like i said.
