i always liked this one: "For millions of years mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination" - Pink Floyd, Keep Talking
(this lyric has absolutely nothing to do with anything in this thread - i just always liked it.)

eerily satisfying...
a friend asked me to accompany him to the district assembly held this past weekend in our area.
in the talk at 11:40 am sunday, entitled be like jeremiah--fearlessly proclaim the word of god, as others have posted on this board, a reference was made about the dateline program, but no specifics were given.. from the meagre notes and memory, i will try and paraphrase the argument the speaker read from his pre-packaged discourse.
he quoted the text from 1john 5:19, ....the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.
god i love reading this stuff from the trenches...
did being a witness hurt, hamper, or help your dreams?
did you want to be a dancer?
an actor?
go for it buffy!!!
.
time for a bit of fluff, methinks..... which do you use - tissues or hankies?.
i use tissues, cos i don't see any reason why i would want to put something i've blown my nose on in with the rest of my laundry .
tissues. no doubt. for all the reasons mentioned...
did being a witness hurt, hamper, or help your dreams?
did you want to be a dancer?
an actor?
it didn't hamper my dreams. i always wanted to be a writer or artist. i went to college, got a degree and becamse a sucessful writer, illustrator and (recently) a web developer. i also had a beautiful son shortly after i left, and he has brought me immeasurable joy. nothing on earth can compare with the fulfillment of being a mother. i have no regrets in life, except for getting involved with the witnesses. being a mother has made me put some other dreams on hold, like traveling to tibet or living in soho or greenwich village, but i will do that when he goes to college and my immediate responsibilty is done. the secret is finding happiness in the simple things - you can never be disappointed.

were you ashamed of being a witness?.
how did you feel about identifing yourself as a jehovahs witness to others?.
i often used to hide it because of the stigma attacthed to it.. was anyone actually proud to be one?
ashamed? i think we both know the answer to that question.
(but in case you don't................................................................... yes .)
what brings a smile to your face?
i cant help but smile when my wife laughs, or when my kids play outside.
i also smile when my boy, who is 15 wants to talk to me.
listening to my son play the guitar. he's really awesome. or watching south park or the simpsons with him, or trading 'maury povich guest' impressions with him. what a gas!
i turned my back yard into a bird and butterfly sanctuary, planting flowers to attract them, putting out seeds and water. i always smile when i see the little fledglings gambol about on the lawn, checking out the big world. or better yet, when a hummingbird comes to the feeder, or the occasional butterfly.
when my neighbors walk or drive by and we always smile and wave to each other, we all gathered around on june 10 and watched the solar eclipse. it was really cool.
making christmas cookies for my family, and seeing the smiles on their faces. i make little gingerbread men and make them look like south park characters :) in fact, i love christmas! all the presents and lights twinkling.
getting funny email from my friends
seeing my girfriend and just doing fun stuff with her. she works a lot, so when we finally get together, we act silly together.
watching all the seeds in my garden morph into seedlings and flowers and peppers and stuff.
star gazing with friends who live out in the sticks. they have huge telescopes and when you see saturn's rings, or jupiter it's wonderful. then we joke about aliens and stuff and eat nachos and just enjoy watching the kids play. it doesn't get any better than that

aw.... too bad. the article states:
"By a vote of 8 to 1, the court reasoned that the First Amendment right to free speech includes the entitlement to take a message or idea directly to someone's door, and that the right cannot be limited by a requirement to register by name ahead of time."
what if someone's home sick, or with cancer, or has been up all night nursing a sick baby, or works nights and sleeps during the day, or has a heart condition and if they come to their house one..more..time... (so much for consideration for one's neighbors.)
ooh, gotta go, i'm late.
