who ranks on your list of 'important apostates?'
*everyone*
well, here are my thoughts on the subject.
we sit here and bash the wbts for having gender separation, but what about us apostates?
do the women apostates carry as much weight as the men, and why do you say so?
who ranks on your list of 'important apostates?'

i'll be speaking this week at a memorial service for my father, and would like to include passages from the bible which are uplifting and comforting, but which do not refer to god or jesus or have an overt religious message or overtone.
i would appreciate very much if members would suggest passages they believe would be appropriate.. joe.
i'm sorry about your loss. this isn't from the bible, but i think it's beautiful. it makes me think of the soul's journey from this world to the next:
Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds -- and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of -- wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
sincerely,

p.s. the poem is called "Highflight" and it was written by John Gillespie Magee, Jr. Pilot
He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in October 1940, at age 18. He went to England to fly Spitfires. After qualifying, he was piloting one on a test flight into the stratosphere at 30,000 feet when he got the inspiration for "High Flight." Magee was killed in action during a dogfight December 11, 1941, at age 19.

i don't know. i thought that was pretty elaborate.
he's like a god, sort of
a little test: .
the weakest link....... here is a very simple little test comprising of four questions to determine the level of your intellect.
answer: if you answered second-last, once again you're completely wrong.
I did address a post to the bitter, twisted, people of this board.
i'm still pretty new so i don't know what's going on (and i don't want to know). i just wanted to say hi. if i ever said anything to offend you, please tell me. you seem like a nice girl.

after physio today, i got on the bus to head home.
in a sleepy daze, i walked down the aisle looking for a seat on the mostly full bus.
my eyes then looked to the left and my heart went into the pit of my stomach.
my god...
it amazes me that we can bear unbearable abuse and still emerge with an endless capacity for love. and our children will still love us, even if we say those horriffic things, or do those terrible things to them. oh Mimilly, you beautiful wonderful person! my heart weeps for you. i want to throw my arms around you right now. God bless you!
right now, 4 hours this very minute, removing tumors, still no news - and i am one nervous father ...........
keeping good thoughts for your precious daughter and you and your loved ones.
this morning we published a very moving story written by a jehovah's witness whose 15-year-old son died supporting the watchtower's society blood policy.
to the best of my knowledge, this is the first time a jw parent has gathered up the courage to face down this monstrous policy after losing their child.
this is a very special person indeed and when we finally gather enough of these folks together and set them in front of the right attorney, the wts will be in for some serious litigation.. at present mary is in the midst of divorce from her jw husband and nailing down a custody agreement, so the identity of her and her son must remain anonymous.
this is beyond a tragedy... mary had doubts at that point: "When we arrived at the trauma center, the doctor told us that he had little chance of survival without blood transfusions, and that they had given him several units when he arrived. This angered my husband a great deal but I said nothing. Secretly, I had hoped the doctors would give him blood despite our wishes if a transfusion could save his life..."
her husband was angry that the son had already received several untis of blood. this isn't someone putting oil into your car without your permission, it's your child for chrissakes. mary secretly hoped they would give him more blood. if she felt that way, maybe making her wishes spoken aloud would have made a difference. the travesty is that respect for religious doctrine outweighs everything else, even human life - the precious life of our beloved children. (or parental authority/rights for that matter). i suppose their only solace is that "they will see their son again in the new system".... this is what makes the watchtower society so scary and evil.
i bet mary wishes she could go back to that moment and say give him the blood he's going to live even if he wakes up and hates me even if the wts casts me out my son is going to live. i want to weep for her. i would not want to go on living if anything happened to my son, plain and simple.

last night i was chatting with introspection and we breifly discussed chinese astrology.
i know a bit about it... .
look up your sign here -- and remember chinese astrology starts with the month february.
cool!
Timid and attractive, the Rabbits of the Chinese Zodiac tend to act more like bunnies, whether they like it or not! This Sign is extremely popular and has a wide circle of family and friends. Its compassionate nature leads it to be very protective of those it holds dear, but where romance is concerned, the Rabbit's sentimentality can lead it to idealize relationships. The sweet, sensitive Rabbit often ends up giving more of itself to a partner than is realistic or healthy. The good news is, when this Sign goes off-balance, the Rabbit's core group of friends and its stable home life help bring it back to center.
The Rabbit is a rather delicate Sign that needs a solid base in order to thrive. Lacking close, supportive friends and family, the Rabbit might just break down in tears at the first sign of conflict. Emotional upsets in this Sign's life can even lead to physical illnesses. Rabbits dislike arguments and other conflict and will try anything to avoid a fight; this results in something of a pushover nature. Rabbits can also lapse into pessimism and may seem stuck in life -- often to mask their insecure natures. Rabbits tend to move through life's lessons at their own, rather contemplative pace; it's a waste of time to become exasperated with this Sign's seeming disinterest in facing its problems and conquering them.
With the right partner -- meaning someone whose high principles won't allow it to take advantage of this sensitive, giving Sign -- the Rabbit can make an incredibly loving and protective partner or family member. Rabbits love to entertain at home and always make sure their house is comfortable and tastefully-furnished. What Rabbits need most is a stronger sense of self-worth and the security that comes with it. Their discerning natures, coupled with some hard-won assertiveness, will help these happy creatures go far.
The most compatible match for a Rabbit is the Goat or the Pig.
