  hello, i'm doing some research, and i was wondering if the watchtower has had any legal action taken against it for mis-quoting someone (specifically the 1985 creation book), as this book especially is notorious for a few mis-quotes.

  it just so happens i found that very book "Life - How did it get here" yesterday, when i was cleaning out a closet. that and another one titled ""KNOWLEDGE That Leads to Everlasting Life". my sister gave them to me and i just stuck them in the back of my closet. i didn't want my friends asking what are you doing with those witness books they qoute a lot of Science Digest and Newsweek in their "ape men/missing link" chapter; is that it? if they are misquoting i would love to call them on it.

  anyway you know what's strange? in chapter 19" An Earthly Paradise Soon to Come" there's all these people sitting around a table waiting to eat and i took a good look at the picture and there's nothing on the table resembling meat of any kind. you see plates of nuts (how weird on a dinner table), fruits. vegetables, several loaves of bread, but no meat. they show little kids playing with tigers and people petting bears and stuff so i guess we're not going to eat the animals. i would ask about that when i was in and never really got an answer. in fact, you never got an answer to any detailed question, just exasperated looks and people questioning your spiritual strength/weakness...

  anyway how quickly the earth will be overpopulated - and not just with people, but animals. we're not going to kill them, you know. the animals will be our friends (said in hypnotized voice).

  "it's the end of the world as we know it ... and i feel fine" .

  i have always loved this line, as it sums up my conversations with witnesses and family that remain witnesses.

  when 9/11 happened i got a lot of letters, conversations, and phone calls from witnesses wanting my wife and i to become active again.

  it is sad. it was all just a fairy tale. but reality is so much better. as far as death and dying, their favorite trump card to play to new recruits, i don't believe this life is all there is. i don't want to die either, but i feel that if i do, i will come back again, in my next life. i also feel that when we die, we are free from our 'clumsy' earthly bodies and our spirits soar into the heavens and we visit exquisitely beautiful places we can only see now from our telescopes. i don't know why i feel this way. i just do. i don't want to live forever on earth. it would be like living in a giant habitrail or people zoo. i have lost many loved ones and i know i will see them again, in another life.

  I feel like Im going mad!

  at this moment in time, i am currently a jw and work for a school in birmingham uk.. i know alot of people on this site are not jehovahs witnesses and from their postings have no time for them.. but anyway....... about two years ago i split up with my girlfriend and ended up on the scrap heap - i was devestated.

  i had a breakdown and was on anti-depressants for a period of time.

  in the meantime afterwards i met another sister and started courting her.

  first of all, you're not going mad. you just feel that way. you haven't sought medical advice for whatever reason, so i will just tell you what i think. you are very depressed. that's why you're so tired, and why you have lost interest in your life. you still love this girl, but you have to let her go. i know you don't believe it, but you will find another. you will. i promise. do you really want to give your love to someone who doesn't want it? those feelings you have about your 'bad' reputation are just feelings. you don't know for a fact that these other girls think that about you. the worst thing you can do is hide. force yourself to go out and circulate. try it just once ok? call up some of your friends and go out to a restaurant or movie. and don't make any life-changing decisions when you are down like this. wait until you are stronger and have a clear head. and post here often, if that helps you. and you can write to me if you want to. i'm not one of jehovah's witnesses anymore, but i care about you.
