On a side note, I really wish I could have gotten to know my grandparents. They had all sorts of wisdom, knowledge, and life foibles I could have learned from. But alas, I was not allowed to because my JW parents wouldn't let me be around them. Now they're all dead. All I've got are vague impressions and a few memorable quotes.

Have you ever played the lottery? Do you still do it?

he agreed to split the winnings if we win, but we didn't.
i am thinking about buying some lottery tickets, hopefully i will get very lucky.

Most friends I've had that pick numbers and play the lotto do it to break up some of the monotony of life. They're at the stage of life where they realize all their dreams as a kid aren't going to come true, they aren't going to strike it rich, and they'll be doing good to retire at 65. It's just a way to keep the dream alive.
If you try scratch-offs, make sure to check your state lottery website. They provide up to date records of how many have been sold and what prizes have been claimed. Don't lower the already small odds you have by playing a game where the big prizes are already taken.

Heat Pumps
by Stealth ini am replacing my hvac system, considering 2 options .
1) heat pump coupled with a 80% efficiency furnace for when it drops below 20f .
2) a 95% high efficiency furnace with a traditional 15 seer a/c unit.. anyone here work in this field or replace their system recently?

I'm no expert on this, I do remember in thermodynamics class when we studied air conditioning and heat pump cycles, that it takes 7-10 minutes for the unit to actually get up to its peak efficiency. So make sure you don't get upsold to a larger unit than the one required for the square footage of your house. If the unit turns on and off constantly, it destroys the efficiency (besides being hard on the mechanical components).
