The_donald is a place for Trump fans to post memes, etc. it is a mix of meme-heavy humor, political discussion, sexism and racism. There are a couple of posters here who I think are definitely inspired by that subreddit.

We're going to impeach Trump . . . and make Mexico pay for it!
by Coded Logic ini have little doubt articles of impeachment will be drawn up on trump within the next year or so.
my only question at this point is what are they going to get him for?.
collusion with a foreign government to subvert an election?.

Landy:
It will never be a ground warAs I wrote in my post, read the published assessment of what war with NK would be like (OPLAN 5015). It would definitely be several months of massive ground war. One estimate is around 1 million dead.

Witness 007: Without major diplomatic efforts involving China the NK nuclear program is unstoppable; it is important to emphasize they have nuclear weapons it is just a matter of easier delivery at this point.
Unfortunately, there is no good military option against NK, which is why the bluster about red lines and first strikes makes little sense. According to current planning (the stuff which is publically accessible; interesting reading BTW), NK would be defeated, mainly because their equipment is old and their stockpile of weapons and fuel is not very deep, but it would be at a very great loss to South Korea.
On top of that comes two great unknowns. The first is that NK and China are in a military alliance such that hostile action against NK would put the US and China at war legally(!). Nobody knows exactly how that would be interpreted in practice, but it may mean that China would try to ensure NK territorial integrity.
The second great unknown is that we don't know which political and ethnic assumptions NK act on because it is such a closed country. They may well believe they could win a war, and there is good evidence that they believe the right way to signal strength is through a willingness of escalations. That makes "tough" diplomatic response, especially when it is not thought out and haphazard like what Trump has been doing, dangerous.

As usual, a well-reasoned post consisting only of facts immediately get a -1 whereas even the most brain-dead democrat-baching posts are immediately upvoted...

What do You Think About Hybrid and Electric Cars?
by Village Idiot inbattery technology has been making leaps and bounds in affordability and energy output throughout the past decade.
while pure electric cars currently have limited range, the near future holds prospects for longer ranges.
hybrids, and recently plug in hybrids, have a mileage of up to 50 mpg* giving them a range of 500 miles from a ten gallon gas tank.

Have I missed the promotional materials touting the benefits of electric vehicles that can pull 32' fully loaded private gooseneck trailers at reasonable highways speeds over a 2,000 mile trip?
Yah.. when the Tesla investors find out you can't use the Model 3 on your daily 22-hour commute from Berlin to Moscow and back with no stops underway they are going to be soooo screwed...

hoser: Well, obviously there will still be some use cases where gas powered cars will remain useful.. what matters is the typical use case for cars and yours (1000 km driving without significant stops in arctic conditions) is not one of them. For every person like you, there is someone who hasn't driven longer than 40 km on a single day in a decade... I remember more than 10 years ago with the first electric cars that the discussion was about the 100mile range and why that meant electric cars would never be of any use.

hoser: 1000 km is about a 8-10 hour drive... you really do that regularly without taking a 30-minute break to eat or go to the bathroom where the car could charge?
Arguing that "electric vehicles are not useful before they can do X" where X is some extreme task very few people do is a misunderstanding of what the primary utility of electric vehicles would be, namely replacing cars that often goes into cities. city driving is the conditions where electric vehicles will be most efficient over combustion engines, the range is not a great factor since the typical commute is about 10-20 km in my country and it is where removing pollution (including noise) will have the most impact on people's lives.
It is like someone invents the mechanical weave and someone says: yes, but can it make a wedding dress?

Hoser:
I have issues with the current range of electric vehicles. When they can travel up to a thousand km on one charge in 40 below zero temperatures I might consider one.must...resist...
Ha! A thousand km is only slightly more than the average commute from Berlin to London. Wake me up when a normal person like me can use them for my daily commute from Berlin to Athens in -50C, 7 days straight, on a single 30 seconds charge from a USB port on my old Motorola smartphone. Before THAT happens electric vehicles are not useful for ANY normal person.
