  JW sister told my newly widowed mom that it would "look bad"if

  if i took her to the memorial this year.im df'd for years,but out of love and respect for my parents i always gave them this one night.my mum dosent drive.i was going to drive her and sit by her.i promised my dad that i would always do this for him.he was pretty cool,even tho he was an elder.my "devout" sister {who has never lifted a finger to help my parents}told her yesterday that it "wouldnt look good" for me to show up w/my mum,altho everyone knows that i have done everything for my parents,both before my dad died in december and since.

  is my sister just jealous that i have a fabulous life,am beautiful,rich,a guitar god,have excellent cool hair, xray vision,can communicate with aliens and have supernatural abilities?

  or is she just mean?lol..btw,i am going.and im taking my mum and we are going to sit in the front row,and yes,im gonna wear velvet.....

  i was talking with a friend of mine on the board yesterday and the discussion gave me the idea for this thread !

  ( thanks friend !

  ) and it seems as we were talking the thought came up that many of us when exiting the mind control of jehovah's witnesses we really come to appreciate the freedom to think how we want and be able to have access to other views which helps us to have a broader scope , or broader world view than just the tunnel vision of the wt society.

  Does the new Catholic scandal help or hurt in exposing the WT abuse scandals?

  with all the attention being paid to new allegations of abuse cover-up in the catholic church i wonder:.

  1. does this take the heat off the wts and are they hoping to slide through less scrutinized while the pope gets skewered by the media?

  will the wts be stupid enough to try to capitalize on the catholics problems by printing articles critical of them?.

  Good question...

  I think it will open up the conversation.

  I mean come on... everyone knows how much the JW's love it when the Catholic Church gets some bad press!!

  Problem is, if they start talking about the scandal it opens the door for those who know about the settlements to chime in about the fact that JW's also have a problem.

  For me personally I think my JW friends and family are going to keep me off the forward list on their e-mails about this great new scandal because if they don't I will gladly remind them of what happened to my child and my family right in their happy spiritual Paradise.

  Makes me sick every time I hear of these cover ups!! Victims are re-victimized by this crazy idea of protecting a church, KH ect.. Instead of protecting the children :( It really turns me off from ever having a part of organized religion ever again. Don't get me wrong..I don't blame God for what has happened to our family, but I certainly blame the MEN who feel the need to protect grown men and women over victims and their families.

  I have a touchy situation...could use some advice

  i just got an e-mail from my 80 year old mother asking my wife and i to join her for the memorial this year.

  i really don't want to go, but i am also trying to maintain some degree of a relationship with her.

  she is breaking the "rules" by not shunning me, but i don't know how she will react if i reject her invitation.

  It's only an hour..I say make the mom happy and keep the peace. Now if she comes back with the special talk invitation just make plans in advance and tell her you already have plans for that weekend.

  Who knew it??

  A President actually did what he said what he was going to do...

  I had my kids watch this Big Blank Deal and explained how important it is for so many people.

  I'm thrilled my mother/sister/nephew will now have health insurance and I don't mind one bit paying more taxes for it.

  That's why they have phone and letter writing! No need for anyone on a sex offender list to go to my door. They can do pioneer hours without being tempted beyond what they can control or take the chance of some vigilante taking matters into their own hands when they see someone on their list knocking on their door.

  my answer would be, no, never.

  wt society cannot and will not ever admit their faults regarding child abuse they failed to report.. in the sacramento bee article today it quoted cardinal sean brady as saying " he was " ashamed " of the role he played decades ago in handling accusations of child sexual abuse against a priest who went on later to sexually assault scores of children, and hinted that he might bow to calls for his resignation.

  brady stated , " i want to say to anyone who has been hurt by any failure on my part that i apologize to you with all my heart.
