The Culability of Jehovah's Witnesses and Pedophilia
by AllTimeJeff inthe subject of pedophilia and the sexual abuse of children often is complicated.
by that i don't mean that it is complicated to know how to deal with pedophiles.
they have a despicable problem in their minds and need to be identified and controlled for all children's sake as well as for their own sake.

I'm so confused by Shadow.
How does He/She not see what they are trying to do here?
Shortly after we found out our child was molested by a ex elder we attended a CA, mind you we were in a lot of emotional distress at the time. We actually were told by the elders that our child's molester who happened to be out of jail on bail before trial had every right to be at the assembly as we did. Imagine the knots in our stomach as we walked in to find our seats...it took everything we had to even drive to that assembly hall. Guess what we had in store to let us know how Jehovah was blessing our efforts? A nice talk given on the platform telling all that when we read negative news articles( happen to be about our case) to remember the media lies!! Our hearts sank, I could see the tears in my husbands eyes, we left that day knowing we could never be part of such a religion that would willfully kick victims while they are down ( no love )
Now tell me who was more dangerous to my family?
A pedophile and the organization that protected him....or satan?

Crap like that spoken from the platform was what finally helped my husband and I to walk out completely.
They willfully endanger children with the horrible advise the give their parents! How can anyone seriously down play the danger of a molester across the street?

Seeking support during confusing and stressful 'cognitive dissonance'
by LHS123 insorry for the long post but i need help.
ive been a jw for 20 years - still active and attending meetings, baptised at 18, i have recently become very dissillusioned.
a few reasons: ill treatment of my kids by a prominent 'assembly speaker' elder, then my son left the truth at 15 (not baptised) and was 'dropped' instantly, despite this community having been his whole life for 15 years.

Great advise from everyone already. The only thing I can add is maybe you should follow your sons lead and get into some therapy yourself, it's has been extremely helpful for my young adults who struggle with many of the same things your son does.
Many of us have been where you are so we understand the roller coaster of emotions and fears. Use this place to vent ( it helps)
My thoughts are with you and your children.

A coordinated effort to bring up Watchtower pedophelia to the public's attention.
by Village Idiot ina statement that phizzy made on jonathan drake's thread on flyers gave me the following ideas.. we should make a flyer on the issue of the watchtower pedophilia issue written with the object of alerting the public about the jw door to door activity.
phizzy suggested the title, "the paedophile at your door".. on that flyer should be the contact information of our most informed member on the subject who's willing to talk to the media.
barbara anderson perhaps?.

“We are not done yet!” – Candace Conti reacts to appeal court decision
by Watchtower-Free inhttp://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/we-are-not-done-yet-candace-reacts-to-appeal-court-decision.
candace conti (pictured in her interview with abc) has spoken out for the first time about the appeal court decision.
as current and former jehovahs witnesses digest the news that watchtowers appeal against the candace conti verdict has faltered, albeit with the punitive element of the judgment reversed, candace has reacted for the first time by telling me: we are not done yet.. news spread on monday that the state appeals court in san francisco had upheld the $2.8 million compensatory damages in the original june 2012 verdict, but overturned the $8.6 million punitive award against watchtower.. the court decided that, though watchtower had neglected its responsibility to supervise known pedophile jonathan kendrick in field ministry, a church-sponsored activity, the organization had no duty to warn parents in the congregation that a pedophile was in their midst or report him to authorities.. an insightful report by investigative reporter trey bundy has suggested that the court reached its decision because the precedent set by the conti verdict might be too burdensome to enforce.. the burden would be considerable because the precedent could require a church to intervene whenever it has reason to believe that a congregation member is capable of doing harm, and the scope of that duty could not be limited with any precision, the judges wrote.. candaces attorney rick simons responded by pointedly telling bundy: they think in public policy terms that theres too much risk in broadening the churchs responsibility and liability so that it burdens what churches do.

So in other words there will most likely be a new policy on making sure a known( to them only) child molester must be watched? That's a joke! There is no way they can watch them 24/7 nor will they want to.
Now, if you give parents that information they will make sure their children stay away. As a parent of a child that was molested by a ex elder I'm completely frustrated with the judges words! No duty to warn?? Really?
I truly hope this was just because maybe the lawyers made the wrong argument in this case. I mean it makes me sad for Candace because she deserved every penny of the lower courts judgement but it frightens me to think this is how the law will stand. I'm I completely wrong here? I hope so.
No duty to warn! I'm still shaking my head.
Does any of the lawyer type here on this forum know if this decision will at all effect the latest judgement against the WTS( Lopez case) ?
