  Dwindling Attendance? Here's a quick fix!....

  so here's a real life experience you will get a kick out of.. our kh has about 90 publishers.

  typical meeting attendance during a co visit is right at 100 or so.

  the rest of the time, attendance is a dismal 50-60, sometimes 70 on a good week!.

  We share a hall with two other congs. I looked at the attendance record on each noticeboard. Apparently the count is now taken half way through so of course half a dozen "Oh God I can't face the Watchtower study err ... "not well" ones leave half way through making the figures even worse!

  Ours is 70 publishers and we get about 50 at the hall. Other cong 1 is 100 publishers with about 70 attending. Other cong 2 is 50 with about 35 attending. But there is always a number in brackets which is those listening in who get counted too.

  
  

  When I was an elder I remember the CO about 20 years ago complaining because we "only" had 90% attendance. Now its about 70%!

  so, the whole may money grab episode of jwtv really looks bad to me and many others, obviously many here.

  i was looking on another website dedicated to active jw's and if you'll notice on post number 109 a little ways down (<click there to read) a person named luca dares to express some concerns over the latest episode.

  the following pages do contain one more person that has some issue with how things were presented.

  A big hello and thank you

  i just wanted to introduce myself and say a big hello to all of my mentally diseased friends.. i say friends because i have been lurking for some time so it feels like home (us lurkers are a bit scared and cautious so it takes a while).

  i won't bore you with too many details, but i am a born in, currently serving as the cobe of a congregation.

  my wife and i have pioneered for the last 10 years and were shaken awake by that ridiculous 15th july 2013 wt about the generation and 1914.. my wife who is much smarter than me has questioned for years.

  You are so lucky your wife is on board. Hopefully (for this exercise) no kids?

  If you want to go with a bang then fine. If you are determined to leave but want to open eyes then take it more slowly at first.

  But if you want to fade then drop the eldership first. Maybe in August so that a new CO who doesn't know you as a cobe will have arrived in September and the old CO will be tied up with leaving the circuit and not interested. You and I know that being cobe is no more of a higher position than any other elder but sadly many in the hall think differently and you will be in the spotlight more than any other elder.
  

  Claim "stress" and "health issues" and drop the eldership straight away but stay as reg. pios. This shows humility of a rare kind. Then in three months drop the pioneering.

  Then three months after that move congregations (not necessarily move home though) so your records move. Fade from the new hall over a six month period.

  Rumor about the Imitate Jesus Convention

  i saw a rumor a few weeks ago on reddit that the new imitate jesus convention is supposed to present new light and clarified understandings on the disfellowshipping/disassociation practices.. supposedly, if this rumor has any truth to it, there will be a talk given at the convention about how we should not be strict like the pharisees in how we shun people, loosening up some of the jw rules about this practice.. has anyone here heard anything about this or have more info on it?.

  Not a chance. If anything at all it will be a nice "reasonable" talk about how they want the prodigal sons and daughters back in the fold - but CO's will be telling the elders not to loosen their grip.

  Which site can I find a JW brother that matches me so I can marry only in the Lord?

  i am 30 and i am hoping to meet the brother who i will love me for me and would want to marry me.

  i want to marry only in the lord but as the balance of brothers and sisters are not even and i am getting older as time goes by, im kinda a little panicky now.

  Play gently people - we were there once.

  Now asiandiana I hate to say this but if you prove to yourself whether you are following the truth first - as in the real honest to God truth as opposed to the "truth" of the ever changing direction of the leaders of Jehovah's Witnesses - then that would possibly open your horizons to new possibilities.

  i know there are many posts discussing the may money requesting televangalism...er... broadcast i mean!

  but i wanted to start one where anyone can put what they have heard any non-exjw, non-apostate witnesses say good or bad about the broadcast.

  i don't see how it can't rattle followers... but then again i might be surprised how they can twist things (2+2=5).

  Today's WT study was partly about Naboth not giving his inheritance to the wicked king Ahab when it was demanded of him.
  Wicked king Ahab was the anointed. Naboth refuse to give up his inheritance. Perhaps your 85 year old mother should not give up any inheritance to any modern day wicked anointed?

  Him "Have you seen the May Broadcast?"

  Me (playing dumb) "What's it about?"

  Him "First it's give us your money then followed by quit your job and go to the meeting!"

  Me "You winding me up?"

  Him "Watch it and see for yourself."

  The next day I texted him back

  Me "Wow! You were right! what happened to Luke 14:28?"
