  Why are none of the 'Governing Body' being summoned to any of the abuse commissions?

  i'm not sure if this has been covered but i'm wondering why none of the gb are being requested at or formally summoned to any of the australian abuse commissions or other investigations that are taking place around the world?

  they after all are the ones single handedly responsible for making and enforcing all the rules that are the sole cause of all these abuses and problems.. why are they just keeping their silent distance and leaving all the ill-equipped and sadly incompetent local elders exposed to take the full public blast, criticism and humiliation for all that is now being brought out in these investigations?

  how are they seemingly able to sit cosy in their ivory tower immune and unaccountable?.

  counsel assisting the royal commission, angus stewart sc has told the royal commission that church elders could now face criminal charges.

  The two witness rule will unlikely change but I think the farthest they will ever go is;-

  Victims will be "encouraged" rather than "allowed" (previously discouraged and previous to that threatened with disfellowshipping) to report to the authorities.

  A woman will be permitted to have a female "confidant" with her - not to testify but to support.

  Children/minors can already have a parent present throughout and this should be mandatory.

  if you "chose" this religion, as i did, do you remember the moment you "bought", or believed, the religion?.

  for me, it was during one of my studies with a knowledgeable, lovely pioneer sister who looked like her life was so perfect and wonderful.

  i was coming out of a terrible situation in my life, very vulnerable, being abandoned by a husband during my pregnancy and with other little children to look after too.

  My grandmother (mother's mother) died relatively young (early 50's) when my mother was pregnant with me. My mother bought into the resurrection hope from "two nice ladies" - who were so confident they would see their dead loved ones soon - at the door. She was baptised when I was one year old ...my father followed five years later when his brother died. Just as Freddie Franz's ramping up to 1975 was in full swing ...

  Then the failed 1975 prediction morphed into the generation that saw 1914 that wouldn't pass away ...

  I don't know that I ever "bought it" or really loved Jehovah God, I just believed it was true and that I should love him. It just made sense to me as a mid-teenager when I went for splashdown.

  the best, worst and most lightly future scenarios.

  i've used the worlds population as a barometer of future watchtower growth.

  But it's becoming an empty shell. For example -

  Meeting attendance - the quality of dubs (ie staying power, stamina) is dropping.

  We need a Publisher to Meeting attendance ratio or percentage.

  DBOS = Dub Bums On seats.

  I reckon the DBOS is down in the last 15 years from 95% to 75% nowadays in the western world.

  The percentage of nominal low hour publishers is probably one-third to 40%.

  They are hollowing out from the inside.

  i am currently having to spend a little time waiting for an appointment in the vicinity of a central london station.

  whilst waiting i am catching up on some work in a cafe.

  i can see a couple of trolleys and have been watching them for around an hour now.. not one person has stopped to take literature.

  The Good News: This a serious radio programme that will go national on the flagship BBC radio channel.It will be as unbiased and as fair and as accurate as any programme from the best broadcasters in the world. Even JW's respect the BBC.

  The Not so good news: relatively few will listen to it as most will be watching TV instead. Also many JW's will be at their mid-week meeting.

  Family Reuinion and Being Disfellowshipped (sorry...but it's long)

  it has been a long looong time since i posted on here, but never ceased reading all the posts and keeping up on the changes that have been going on!

  but it just seems that now i have a need to get something off my chest, and this is the one place that will most definitely understand the topic at hand.

  i have been disfellowshipped for about 8yrs now, and have dealt with the 'consequences' of that decision: all my so-called friends in the org left and i was also abandoned by my own family.
