I'm still on my JWN holidays but had to pop back to share this experience.
by nicolaou ini'm a postman with the royal mail and was assigned to train a new starter yesterday.
my line manager introduces me to 'dave', within seconds my jw radar was on maximum!
in his mid to late 30's, politely spoken and with that haircut - i just knew it.. the post he'd applied for was saturdays only, he said he did a lot of volunteer work.

Perhaps ex-Bethelite "Dave" needs to get his ministry hours in on a Saturday morning ...
6 years at Bethel being "somebody" and now he's like the rest of us - having to work for his food and keep. His head must be spinning when he watches the GB and other Bethel heavies on TV in their luxury studio.

Dear Brothers,
How thrilled we are that Jehovah's chariot moves at breathtaking speed and that His earthly organization is keeping pace!
We are writing to let you know about some wonderful provisions that are available as of June 1st 2016. Listen, obey, pay and be blessed and you and your household will "overflow" with bounteous things.(Prov. 3: 9,10)
The Service Committee in each congregation will no longer consist of the Co-ordinator, Secretary and Service Overseer. Also note the change to the title of Group Overseer to reflect the direction of Jehovah's chariot.
The new positions will be:
Coordinator of Collection of Usury Payments (COCUP)
This kindly and experienced brother will remind the publishers of the need to give generously. (Wallkill will not get gold taps without your $$$)
Secretary of Regularity of Donations in Dollars (SORDID)
This efficient and numerate brother will remind the publishers of the need to give regularly.
Service Our Debt Overseer - Fund Finance (SODOFF)
This ministry minded brother will remind the publishers that electronic publications don't come cheap and that they should donate for the fine spiritual provisions they receive.
Group Grabbing Overseer(s)
Each Group Grabbing Overseer will arrange kindly shepherding calls on those in his group on a quarterly basis to extract as much cash as he can.
We know these fine provisions will make you grateful for the spiritual paradise which for over 140 years has convinced us we are so, so very deep in the time of the end.
Your brothers,
Whichever Corporation Can Hide the Funds from Child Abuse Professed Victims

Could they make not donating a disfellowshipping offence?
by purrpurr ini'm wondering at how far the borg could go in begging for money?
their halls are already resembling the"money changers in the temple".
as they get sued more and more due to their pedophilic paradise their coffers will be ever more drained.

Naaah! Social pressure is better. Or some goosestepping little secretary reminding everyone every so often to give more, more more.

Approved in 1919?
by Labate ini'm a little puzzled.
if the wtbts was not approved by jehovah and christ until 1919, does that mean that they were not spirit guided until then?.
if not, that would explain the countless errors in doctrine up to that time.. if, however, they were spirit guided, wouldn't that indicate that they had already been chosen?.

If Rutherford and his cronies were approved by God in 1919 then I'm the King of England. -

Flying Scotsman Visits My Town
by cofty inthe iconic steam engine the flying scotsman has been restored and is back on tour along the east coast main line between london and edinburgh.
this evening it crossed the royal border bridge in berwick-on-tweed for the first time since it was put out of service in january 1963.. here are few shots.. .

Flying Scotsman:
Last run by B.R. in 1963. Bought by Alan Pegler and run as a private venture with some government backing until 1970. This loco often wore "smoke deflectors" but not always.
The second tender was made to carry water in 1966 for railtours as steam facilities on the east coast of Britain were being withdrawn. By the late summer of 1968 all B.R. regular steam had been withdrawn.
I believe the black and white picture by cofty was in late 1968 as the engine had been painted in LNER colours and is running a second (water) tender. Shortly after this final East Coast UK railtour Flying Scotsman toured the USA.
Britannia:
Built in right at the end of 1950 and entering service in January 1951 by British Railways as the first "standard" locomotive and withdrawn from service in 1966. She was used for King George VI's funeral train in February 1952. It has always worn "smoke deflectors"
This locomotive is preserved and in running order being used for railtours.
These engines are of similar power output - the Flying Scotsman being a more complicated 3 cylinder design with slightly bigger driving wheels for fast passenger work up to about 100 mph whereas Britannia was a post war "economical" 2 cylinder design equally at home on fast freight trains.
