  "The Bunker" WT Conventions 2016 (Gag Me)

  in the very near future the gang will be down in a bunker,cellar awaiting the police,military to break in and take them away to camps or executions .

  (paranoid much) this is the foretold "prophecy" of the governments turning on religion and saving them for last.since the couple portrayed as simplifying their life by getting rid of a lot of material things is shown to be (about) the same age in the bunker we know it must be any minute now that it will happen.

  i have been out for over 35 years and things seem to be getting more bizarre each year.. when did this doctrine really become main stream?

  Yup late 60's early 70's. Just the same in England as where you guys and gals were.

  Like Sail Away said the older ones remembered the Nazis, we heard about Malawi (beaten to death/rapes) and we "knew" the persecution was coming down the 'pike. And demons everywhere.

  I think job/religion/hobby/nationality/married/parent/son/daughter etc. are all facets of each one of us. We identify ourselves by the context of the question and probably what we feel proudest (or least embarrassed) about at the time.

  Did The Witnesses Predict the United Nations in Advance?

  it's been reported on this forum that bethel speakers at this summer's conventions are asserting that the establishment of the united nations in 1945 was predicted in advance by the witnesses.

  this is being presented as validation of the claim that the witnesses are god's one true organization directed by holy spirit.. .

  the basis for this claim originates with a public address entitled, peace - can it last given by n.h. knorr at the new world theocratic assembly, on september 20 of 1942. .

  Bumped for a very good read ...

  Also my personal 2nd hand experience about what was taught in 1941.

  In 2015 I went to a funeral of a long time jw who was baptised in 1941. Born in 1918, married in 1939 and had her first child in 1941.

  The funeral speaker - who for a JW (along with the "what did she believe bit") gave a warm anecdotal talk about this well liked old lady - told a history of her life and background. All her children/grandchildren were there.

  When he got to WW2 he said her husband was in the British Army and had arranged for his wife and child to be evacuated from the city she lived in as it was often being bombed by German bombers.

  She studied with pioneers; was quickly convinced Armageddon was so close, she ran home to check her baby (being looked after by a neighbour) was safe.

  This was told by the speaker in a humorous but kind way as if the old sister had been gullible but nevertheless faithful.

  But reading the above posts it's obvious to me she just accepted what she was taught - in 1941 Britain she (and the pioneers who were repeating Rutherford and later Knorr's predictions) could have been forgiven for thinking WW2 would end in Armageddon.

  (After all her town was being bombed, her husband was away fighting in the war and for once "the sky is falling" was true!)

  Of course "they" visited Selters this weekend. If this is the last one in the jolly round of Europe by Kickout and Flowdown there might soon be some announcements covering all of Europe?

  My best hope ...

  London - downsize and downsize some more but not until we've sold off the prime London properties and built Chelmsford at a quarter of it's original size.

  Selters - take over Europe.

  my mom is only in her mid 60s so i'm quite sure this is not an issue of mental illness.. the only illness she's suffering from is boredom since she's refused to work for years now.
