  Big Boldfaced Lie in Meeting Workbook for August 1-7, 2016

  there is a fundamental lie which i couldn’t help noticing today in the our christian life and ministry—meeting workbook for august 1-7, 2016. it is in the little supplemental page considered this week under the title “improving our skills in the ministry—helping bible students to progress to dedication and baptism,” in the first paragraph (labelled “why important”), third sentence.

  here is that sentence:.

  “a christian’s dedication is to jehovah—not to a human, a work, or an organization.”.

  So why are they highlighting this subject? Could it be that baptisms are down?

  HQ are getting the figures every month and can project what the final count will be and I guess it ain't pretty!

  From the low baptism counts going round since the end of 2014 continuing until now they have already stagnated. I believe they will manipulate the figures to show the tiniest of growths rather than a deficit - and maybe watch out for the "love of the greater number cooling off" becoming a theme!

  The "Memorial count" is interesting - not really changed in the last 5 years.

  Who goes to a memorial? New ones yes but also it is the last meeting attended by the faders, the "in only for family" types and the "disfellowshipped but mentally in" types.

  spoke with a fellow apostate from my own area.

  she and i bailed out about the same time and kept in touch.. she used to do secular work with one of the local elders in his cleaning business until she got dfed.

  this same elder was one of the more profound dickheads on my reinstatement committee, before i turned around two years later and daed.. business required her to contact the elder on behalf of an old client.

  "Grubbing" actually means to dig about or poke about (in soil or similar). An animal might grub about in the dirt looking for insects, worms or other grubs.

  So money-grubbing is like someone digging or poking about in soil but digging about for money. So always on the lookout for money; poking about in the dirt for it.

  Money grubbing and money grabbing have become synonymous really with the US leaning towards the former and British English towards the latter but they are interchangeable.

  Another brother steps back

  so at the meeting this week it was announced that a certain brother was no longer serving as a ministerial servant.. this is a guy who was brought up in a different country as his family went to serve where the need was greater.

  this is a guy who was home schooled and went straight into pioneering.

  he then went and worked on building projects in various places in europe and africa.

  Hello Teddy - welcome.

  Virtually the whole of Revelation is - according to the JW's - "symbolic". And yet the 144,000 of Revelation CH 7 and Ch 14 is supposedly "literal" even though it is made up of 12 x 12,000 from symbolic tribes of Israel.

  Without wishing to be disrespectful the opinion of this poster (who was baptised as a JW 40 years ago and who was dumb enough to be an elder for over 20 of those years until I realised it was a croc) is that it is "all bollocks."

  I would further encourage you to "run Forrest run" as far away as you can from this self serving little cult.

  JW over-rode our Choice of Funeral music

  a few years on and the funeral of my jw momma still galls me.

  she left instructions for which kingdom songs to be sung and we gladly abided by her wishes.

  the funeral was held in a public crematorium, not a kingdom hall.

  I know they brought in a rule some years back that Kingdom Mal-adies only are allowed at the KH but in the UK at the crematorium there is no reason at all why other dignified music couldn't be played.

  Having said that, most dubbies have K/M's but on occasion I have heard other stuff.
