popping in to say hi.... been away from the forum for a long time.... had some serious health issues starting at the beginning of this year.

on the mend now, and getting back into the swing of things.... great to be alive!.

Been witnessing today - first time in over 2 years!!

i went into the city to where i knew there was a "cosmopolitan witnessing" trolley, because i wanted to ask a simple bible-based question.

the trolley was attended by an elder and a sister who was another elder's wife.

Keep up the good work Searcher. Don't ignore the cart dummies. Stuff like this will lodge in at least some of their minds.

Can you point us in the direction of specific JW literature that says some will be practicing vile things in the 1,000 year reign? I can then plant it here and there in the minds of "deserving ones".

BTW - it's "Metropolitan" not "Cosmopolitan". As in "Are you qualified to do the Metropolitan Cart Dummy Work, brother?"

it's not as if the sheep was trying to seduce the shepherd, the poor creature was violated.

we have come a long way from those days, thank goodness.

so why slay the sheep or beast?????

hello all.... i am new here so i figured i'd make a quick post introducing myself and giving a brief intro as to who i am and what i'm here for... as well as to hopefully meet others.. so, i made a profile and in it i gave a pretty detailed explanation as to my intent here and exactly why i decided to participate in the boards.

sam turd err ... herd: get the circuit overseers off their behinds to tell the secretaries to phone every non-reporter and inactive publisher and "remind" them that they "must have" done some preaching in the last six months and offer them the "fifteen minute" option.. david ex-splane: and if that doesn't work let's introduce some overlapping figures from last year; it worked on the generation chart that i explained so well!

Whacko-Jacko: When I was in front of the ARC O'Brien and Toole really cocked it up so don't let the branch committees interfere - they're hopeless!

AM3: I don't know Geoff, why not actually threaten the branch committees that any who show a decrease will get sent to Fumbuck-in-the-Boonies and let them lean on their minions? JW Carts Cause Thousands to Start Studying!!!

i would love to know the stats of how many hours were spent, standing by a cart, or sitting at a local town fair with jw table tent set up, compared to the number of bible studies started that led to baptism since the inception of the carts.

anyone have any idea?

if i had to guess i would say thousands of hours pent standing by a cart, and maybe less then 5 that actually got baptized.

I have not heard of one witness cart encounter progress to bible study and progress to baptism in our circuit since the trolleys began operating. You'd think it would be all over a circuit assembly as an example wouldn't you?

Just curious - is apostasy grounds for divorce?

i know only adultery is supposed to be grounds for "scriptural" divorce.

i'm a wicked apostate in their eyes, but my believing husband and i still can't get a divorce that would allow him to remarry.

we currently are separated - i have left him.

Oh and another one ...

Wife gets a legal but not scriptural divorce. Years go by and the brother wants to move on.

He goes and sees a prostitute and confesses to a handjob and gets a reproof.

Only because she has already obtained the legal divorce she had already rejected him so now they are both free. Good eh?

I was on a committee where the wife came forward and admitted adultery and told us she needed to be disfellowshipped! It was surreal - we were saying no, no, think about your relationship with Jehovah (I know, I know ...) but she insisted she was not repentant as she couldn't stand being with her insensitive bullying husband. I even suggested I had never heard of her having a "male friend" - or her adult children who were witnesses had never seen one with her either. But she insisted it was true.

So we DF'd her and he got his "scriptural" divorce.

I always liked her (no, not in that way) and volunteered to do those occasional follow up visits every year or so and about three years later (ex hubby had remarried) I visited her with another brother and asked her about whether she wanted to "work towards reinstatement".

She said "Freddo, I don't suppose it matters now that (her ex) has remarried but I never committed adultery, I just wanted to be free of him and to be honest I'm glad I'm not a Witness anymore!"
