Hi Jason - never being baptized was a good thing for you.
It could be your relatives getting the local elders to try and "help" you - what with the end being so close and all - or if they are from your old hall then they might be going through all the old record cards.
Typically the Secretary has a file with record cards - for baptised and unbaptised publishers - in it going back to the year dot.
So when someone drifts away/goes inactive/dips under the radar without judicial action then their record card will be put in the inactive section.
Every so often - the elders will go on "a drive" to reactivate and reach out to the "inactive ones." And of course they can count their time doing so.
This might be triggered by any or all of:
1. A relative (remembering the Return to Jehovah brochure) phones up and says "will you give Johnny a call?"
2. Annually they're supposed to call on the DF and DA to see if they have any thought to coming back and keen bodies of elders will occasionally add the "inactives" to that.
3. The CO's coming and this particular CO might tell them to have a go at reactivating the "inactives".
4. A bright keen spark on the body might decide to have a go at reactivating the "inactives."
5. They are trying to smoke out a "sinner" - usually only baptised ones but if they think you are contaminating the sheep they might go for an unbaptised publisher. In this case they turn up around hallowe'en looking for pumpkins on the porch or near Xmas looking for inflatable Santa or Xmas trees.
As an unbaptised publisher you shouldn't be treated the same as DF ones but of course some uber dubs love to shun!

Elder wants to stop by with the CO for a visit .
by NikL inso i got a text from an elder who i consider one of the good guys and a friend in his own way.. he asked if he could bring the co by for a visit.
he said it would be "just a pleasant call and visit and will hopefully encourage my wife".
he says that "he knows she is dealing with a ton of pressure".. in all my years around the organization, i never had a visit from the circuit overseer.

@redvip
That is a good point actually. CO's like others to do their dirty work when it comes to inactives.
They don't mind getting involved in non judicial elder and ms removals though.

Learning from History
by no-zombie ini was reading the book 'five stages of collapse' by dmitry orlov, which discussed in part, people's attitudes toward the probability of societal collapse.
one group of people, those who dispassionately examine facts, like scientists, engineers and accountants ultimately become diametrically opposed to the group of people with vested emotional interests, like politicians, businessmen and economists.
and he made some interesting comments that parallel our situation when we consider how people are polarized over the future of the organization..

@AussieBloke
Welcome to the forum.
After you have wished everyone a Merry Xmas and taken the Parkwood brothers and sisters down the pub why don't you suggest everyone donates a pint of blood to help out the medical community over Xmas and the New Year?

Question for those that have been Disfellowshiped for apostasy VS succesfully fading
by NikL inthere are quite a few here who have been disfellowshipped for apostasy.. then there are those that have successfully faded.. why the different outcome?
are the ones that got df more out spoken?
or does the discrepancy lie with the elders?.

Another arrow in your quiver is not feeling it is wrong to lie to those asking the "Do you believe the GB/FDS are Jah's representatives on earth?" or somesuch.
Remember their own definition of a lie is a self serving one that is different from anybody else's definition of a lie.
They say in the January 2016 Public WT under the heading LYING WHAT IS IT?
"Saying something false to someone who is entitled to know the truth."
Use it against them. YOU decide what they are entitled to know and just tell 'em of course you believe the GB is up there with Jah/Jesus. THEY aren't entitled to know the truth anymore than a Gestapo man isn't entitled to know where you hid your Jewish mate.
IMO!

Have the Elders ever been instructed by their bethel to call the police for abuse?
by StephaneLaliberte inright now, there are a lot of talks on this topic in quebec and, at the mid week meeting, they are reading the letter sent in 2002 where it states that the elders will call the authorities if the law forces them to.
the strange thing is, it looks like even when there are laws to that effect, jws seem to believe that it does not apply to them.
for instance, i know that they do not report anything in quebec, even if it is the law!

awake 12/8/2004 p 28
by gerry injust doing research and came across this.. i know this is old however.
here we have a worldly organisation distributing pamphlets and warning parents about child abuse.. last point in particular.
3) inform the child that what happened is against the law and that it is necessary to report it to the police so that it will not happen again.. pretty straight forward if you ask me.. watchtower were happy to use that in their magazine.

Craftily written.
Note "in the event of actual abuse" - and how do "we" (WT and any WT following drone) determine "actual abuse" - the two witness rule or confession of course.
