just wondering what would happen if a brother saying a prayer in a meeting did it in the name of michael the archangel instead of closing the prayer with "jesus christ".

since jw's believe michael is jesus would he be counseled?

don't know if this is a global thing but i've just been told by a pimo member of my old congregation that a min servant has been given the task of destroying all old books/literature in the kh library prior to 1992.. could be the elders (or even one of them) on a mission to stamp out dissent as my ex-wife used the same reasoning to her elder dad that i used in my jc: rutherfords books containing failed predictions.. anyone else heared anything?.

the ms who's been given the task is a company man.

no hope of him keeping them or selling them on ebay.. they have some russell books in that library too.

Another trolley (That's Cart to Americanos), encounter today.

Yesterday I went and did a bit of shopping in our cong territory and I drove into the shopping area where at the entrance were two "worthies" being ignored - and there were lots of passersby.

One I recognised as an old faithful (and exceptionally genuine) elder in his 80's. He and his family have been through real unpleasantness in jw land but he has soldiered on from the early 1970's until now. It was cold and he had a woolly hat, heavy coat and leaned on a cane. He looked cold and miserable (or cold and resolute if you prefer) and I wanted to pull over, put my arm around him and say ...

"WHY ON EARTH DON'T YOU GO HOME, SIT BY THE FIRE, HAVE A CUP OF TEA AND GET WARM? ... NOBODY IS BLOODY INTERESTED! - IT'S CRAP!"

But of course I didn't.

Joliette - you are thinking of the account of Onan. It is nothing to do with masturbation.

There are those that have said that the Bible describes masturbation in Genesis chapter 38, and that Onan was put to death for the offense. But this is not true. The Bible says that when Onan “did have relations with his brother’s wife he wasted his semen on the earth.” (Genesis 38:9) So apparently Onan interrupted sexual relations with Tamar, spilling his semen on the ground rather than giving it to Tamar. He did this because he did not want to raise up children in the name of his dead brother. And it was for this failure to perform “brother-in-law marriage” that Onan was put to death.

Back in the time of Genesis there was a tradition that if a younger woman became a widow without children then the brother-in-law would take her as a wife and try to impregnate her. (Crazy I know)

But good old Onan didn't want to look after kids that weren't his and so "pulled out" before ejaculating.

So in his all encompassing wisdom the great Jehovah not only killed the woman's first husband, he killed his brother (her next husband) as well.

No wanking involved - at least not in the scripture and even WT acknowledge this.

Old Testament stuff which doesn't have the power of law even if you are a Christian believer anyway.

When elders sniff apostasy they are on to the branch like a newborn lamb on its mother's teet. The branch then tells them what to do and what ducks to get in a row every step of the way.

Remember - the branch boys have heard it all before. Just because the elders in Outer Fumbuck haven't dealt with "apostasy" doesn't mean the branch won't ruthlessly close it down and kick you out using their puppets to do it.

i think as they continue to loose money and members and contributions dry up, that many might be thinking how to get out of this financial mess with some sort of golden parachute, and hand over the reigns to their helpers.. i'm sure with all this bad that is happening to the corporation they would welcome an early retirement with a nice comfy nest egg away from all this bad publicity away from the public eye.

why do they want to keep fighting a losing battle give over their power for a nice comfy retirement.
