Being from England I hope England get to the final. So that I can drive on quiet roads to the Cornish seaside; find a parking space and walk along a sandy beach and enjoy it with a few beers, a camping stove and with no-one else there. In midsummer that is otherwise impossible.

I agree with the oldhippie, teel and slimboy - the trinity doctrine is not supported by scripture. In my view there is more scripture against it as there is for. Especially if you stick to proving the holy spirit not equal to the other two. Stick to false prophecy, UN, Malawi etc. Get him a copy of CoC.

blood on the hands of the governing body.
by xbro inwe all remember the doctrine of blood guilt, now for some time i have been of the belief that the gb are blood guilty for the death of the witness in the german concentration camps, they were told to preach against the nazi party ,which is in violation of the bibles principle of 'being no part of the world' and is verging on political action.
this work drew attention to themselves by the german authorities.
had they just been good christians and keeping out of politics none would have died in the camps..

Well xbro - two things...
1. No Governing Body to worship err... obey back then. Just Good ole Judge Ratherflawed.
2. Not joining the German military when conscripted in Nazi Germany would result in death or concentration camp anyway - whether you preached against Uncle Adolf or not.
But I agree that the Judge (as in "I tried one court case for four days so I'm a judge doncha know?") sat in his big tower/cadillac and hung his followers in Germany out to dry and so did the GB when it came to Malawi - now there's a case that fits your description perfectly.

The Rise of the Conscious Class
by truthseeker in"i believe in one god, and no more; and i hope for happiness beyond this life.
i believe the equality of man, and i believe that religious duties consist in doing justice, loving mercy, and endeavoring to make our fellow-creatures happy.
but, lest it should be supposed that i believe many other things in addition to these, i shall, in the progress of this work, declare the things i do not believe, and my reasons for not believing them.

Conscious class member here... a very good post truthseeker!
Remember "the tipping point"? Someone please tell me we're getting close to it.
The real deep down truth about "growth" is - baptisms are down! Not hours, studies, mags or RV's - they can all be fudged. Even publishers can come (at age 6) and go (at age 16) and be counted in the meantime - but jw baptisms are down! Yay!

WTBS taking care of older ones?
by roadrunner027 indoes anyone know if the society/organization is financially taking care of the older ones?.
my husband and i left the org over 10 years ago, we are of the generation where our parents came to the jw's in the 70's, gave up everything they owned, had no college education, and stuck to the usual janitorial/construction jobs so they wouldn't miss any meetings.
this of coarse means they have no retirement money and see nothing wrong with that as the end of the system is soon upon us.

I have to say that our congregation does take care of older/sick ones - it is one of things that makes being in it bearable. The WTS itself? Worse than useless!
But here's a true story from when I was reaching the end of my eldership. We had (thankfully moved on now) an uber pioneer who was mega keen in the circuit and she would pal up with the CO's wife (who was a ministry nut) on a Monday afternoon once a month to go on the ministry outside of the CO's visit so that the CO's wife could have her "own" calls in the city that she could follow up.
Anyway, they used to meet at an old disabled sister's house who was in our territory and this sister had no sense of smell plus a smelly dog and a house that still stank of her dead husband's smoking habit from months previously before he died. So the CO's wife says to our uber pioneer that the place is "not suitable" for a meeting for field service and the uber pioneer relays this to me and says we (our congregation) should get a group together and clean the house.
I tell her that I am in no way going to upset this sister so soon after her hubby's death to tell her her house smells etc. So uber pioneer says that it's not suitable to meet in because the CO's wife says so. I'm in the parking lot and say loudly "if sister (CO's wife) has got so much time on her hands then why don't you and her offer to clean it instead of making a fuss about nothing?"
Anyway this gets reported back to the CO who phones our then PO (a long term heavy with bethel connections) to express his disapproval at me and that the elders should do something about it. In fairness to the PO he backed me up and said this wasn't the right time to broach the subject with the sister being newly a widow and all. The CO tells the PO that I need counselling but the PO again stood up for me and said to the CO that under the guidelines of Matt 18 then he (the CO) would have to approach me directly! He never did, but would never look me in the eye.
Funnily enough our PO who was "always" on the circuit assembly platform didn't get another assignment while that CO was in town!

JWS is a fraud...
by vilot inwes and april started an exjw discussion board thinking simon would end this board...it attracted many new members and grew into a bit hit in the exjw world...but a funny thing happened they started to ask for funds to keep the site up and asked for donations they poured in and yet it was not enough they keep ask and the funds keep pouring in...month after month and yet it was never enough...then it dawned on the members they were just pocketing the money and holding the members hostage..."send money or the site will go down"...they kept sending and they kept pocketing the money.... .
avoid these people like the plage they will just rip you off and pocket the money....

I posted there when I heard JWD was going down - I still do occasionally and I've never been asked for money either ... in fact I just logged on to check and all seems ok.

Mill Hill Disfellowshippings
by BorgHater ina few months ago there was a thread about a couple of elders at the mill hill bethel being disfellowshipped because they disagreed with some wt doctrine (i can't recall exactly what it was) and that several other betheliteswere under 'investigation'.
i haven't heard anything since, does anyone know anything more about this?.

Thank you PaulApollos
I think you could wake a lot of people up! Do you think the branch committee left your wives alone to lend weight to the "immorality" rumours?
- regarding my post re Michael Pottage and his talk - I wasn't there either and the couple who told me about it had their children personally affected by Michael Porter and so would have been tuned in for "words of comfort" from a visiting bethel speaker - so when he simply stuck to his outline, moaned about brothers going to center parcs instead of being there at the assembly and went on about how worse off we could be (referring to his missionary experiences in Africa and how the locals suffered) - then it came across as out-of-touch, insensitive and uncaring to them.
I have chosen to fly under the radar but know of several in London Bethel and mention of a "few in bethel" getting disfellowshipped and being linked to "immorality" has come my way recently. Fortunately I have been around the block long enough to now how that would be obfuscation to hide the truth of the matter.
Have you thought of sending a letter to all your erstwhile brethren explaining the true facts? Do your wives want to stay "in"? Have you thought of setting up a support group for others who might leave if "they had somewhere to go"?

Hi PaulApollos - sorry to hear of your predicament. Are any of your family supportive to you?
I've known very close family to be on the receiving end of the UK service department's haughty attitude. I remember them closing ranks over the paedophile Michael Porter episode covering themselves rather than support the victims. They supported their buddies (bosses?) in Mill Hill congregation when the idiots chose to reprove him rather than DF him.
Down in the south-west they sent that stuffy Michael Pottage (do you know him?) who looked down his nose like a pharisee at their assembly and all he did was talk down to the brothers.

Friend going to elders soon for a spankin' Any current / ex elders here?
by JerkhovahsWitless ini have a jw friend who's done somethings with his jw girlfriend in the porneia category.

i'm not sure of his reasons why, i mean he sees the bs of the cult.

What sir 82 said. If your friend and gf can really really be sure they won't blab in the future then don't go.
BTW - a BJ/Oral/Handjob all count as the "real deal" in JWland but you could play the "I didn't know it was something I needed to see the elders about" card and then go all super-repentant if you keep quiet and then get busted later.
