Changing verses in the new RNWT to suit an agenda
by freddo init's increasingly obvious to me that part of the reason for the "new" rnwt of 2013 is to increase the authority of the organisation and the gb.
yes, the old one was becoming dated but they have taken opportunities (liberties?
) with translation to increase their control.. an obvious one is micah 6 v 8 where "to cherish loyalty" has replaced "and to love kindness".

An obvious one is Micah 6 v 8 where "to cherish loyalty" has replaced "and to love kindness"
Conclusion - "loyalty" is highlighted to increase loyalty to "them".
... ... ... ... ...Another is Acts 15 v 19 which is part of the circumcision decision. WT maintains this was by the "1st Century Governing Body". It wasn't - it was James.
Acts 15 v 13 - 19 says that James made the decision after listening to others including Peter, Paul and Barnabas. But look how that has been "watered down."
nwt Acts 15 v 13 "After they quit speaking, James answered, saying: “Men, brothers, hear me. ..."
Acts 15 v 19 "Hence my decision is ..."revisednwt Acts 15 v 13 "After they finished speaking, James replied: “Men, brothers, hear me."
Acts 15 v 19 "Hence my decision* is ..." (note the asterisk now added for a footnote where none existed before which reads: Or "opinion.")
And the "Interlinear" ...
Acts 15 v 13 "I am judging ..."
James made the final decision so it not the "first century governing body" was it?
Have you got any other examples to add to this thread please?

by stuckinarut2 inso we have all heard the worldwide reports about khalls being sold off and congregations being amalgamated etc.... of course, jws are being told that these actions are a sign of "just how much the work is progressing, and how jehovah is blessing the increase and expansion!".
i can share the following from my part of the world too!.
in perth, western australia the following has occurred.. three "new" congregations have been formed!

A few days ago a poster (sorry can't remember who) wrote: "If they told them from the platform that Jesus was Satan - they'd bob their heads and agree with it."
That is the mentality you're dealing with in Clowntown Jdubland.

On the platform!!!! It just gets better and better!
Materialism indeed! Love it. It's the "power and prestige" from a career in the world < as per Sunday's WT > that I enjoy.

Gone Awol said: "Why the negative remarks about window cleaners? Is there a class system on this forum?"
It's because some people don't know any better. They don't realise that even a self employed window cleaner with no workers can turn over £50,000 a year if he plans it right and prunes his round into shape.
Mind you he would probably have to work 4 days a week to do that.
...
You're the guy who stuffed all his magazines and literature into an elders case aren't you? Then left it at the KH door with a note on it saying "I won't need this anymore!"
Pure class.

I want to understand British references to your countries.
by compound complex ingreetings, friends across the two ponds:.
of course, as per other posters' recommendations, i could google this; i have and remain, not totally confused, but wanting the straight dope as well as nuanced meaning.
i'm both curious and needing to know for purposes of editing works of american and british writers.

Just to confuse ...
Isle of Man, Channel Islands (Jersey, Guernsey etc.) are Crown Dependencies
Gibralter, Falkland Islands, Ascension Island and St. Helena etc. are British Overseas Territories
Scilly Isles, Isle of Wight, Lundy Island etc. are part of England and thus part of the UK
Isle of Anglesey is part of Wales and thus part of the UK
Isle of Skye is part of the Inner Hebrides which are a chain of islands which are a part of Scotland and thus part of the UK
Rathlin Island is part of Northern Ireland and thus part of the UK
That's enough Islands ...

It’s My Anniversary!
by jp1692 intoday is the four year anniversary of the last time i set foot in a kingdom hall.
it was the day of the kool-aid issue of the wt!
“at that time, the life-saving direction that we receive from jehovah’s organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.

Since leaving the JW Organization, who is believing?
by Issa ini left the jw organization last year during summer.
maybe some of you can relate.
who of you are agnostic or an atheist?

I don't think there is an all powerful "God" who takes any interest in mankinds affairs even such an entity exists at all.
But ... I'm not dogmatic and I do believe there could have been a "god" (aliens?) who started a process of life and skedaddled a long time ago. Or maybe just that there has always been life somewhere in the Universe.
The future ...
Generally I think when we die then that is it. But if there is a slight chance of an afterlife somewhere I do not believe it is dependent upon worshipping "God" - and certainly not via 7 men in New York or any other religion.
