just joking i really don't think so...but the situation in syria is pretty worrisome...just hearing the news that france and great britain are attacking with cruise missiles in 72 hours.

i mean assad is not gonna gasify his adversaries when he almost won the civil war.

trump too suspended a very important trip to the latinoamerican presidents summit in peru, just to 'oversee the american response to syria.

US Navy is unbeatable - it has about twenty times what any other Navy has in carriers alone. If one of them were sunk by a Russian submarine that got through the defences - unlikely - look what they'd have in reserve.

I mean - 10 - yes that's 10 Nimitz class carriers at over 100,000 tons each and another 9 of other types of carrier.

All the following carriers do not exceed 70,000 tons ...

What has Russia got?

1 carrier that has gone back for a refit after a history of breakdowns and arrestor-wire problems.

1 - maybe ready soon.

1 Carrier

1 built - waiting for planes - and 1 on the way.

The rest of the world?

New data movement this is what I see as their goals .

after listening to the leaked videos this is what i think it’s all about.

first i don’t believe they will want to much personal information ie bank accounts etc do to potential legal problems down the road.

what i think is their goal is once all publishers are in the data base they then have no need for written information about any issue concerning a publisher and how issues are handled by elders and the branch etc... this information now is in their own data base and can be deleted or manipulated by them at any time.

I think of my mother-in-law - a witness for 45 years who never officially did more than be a aux pioneer. Loads of solid sisters (in the very active jw sense in meetings ministry and cash/cheque donations) like her would have been on nothing except the local record cards.

Mind you at the other end of the scale from the CO's, bethelites etc we would have 35,000 plus (in the USA) pedo individuals with accusations/confessions/on file wouldn't we? Plus all the DF'd, DA'd, reinstated.

Memorial Attendance ???

hi all, anybody any anecdotal or actual idea of how attendance numbers went this year ?.

there are hints that it is well down, but is it ?

and if it is, will the borg stop crowing about the attendance as they always have ?.

I wonder if in the west it's partly due to the oldies dying off. We can only have our lives extended so far by modern medicine and good living conditions and the vulnerable housewives and the stalwart husbands who came in during the 1950's and 1960's as young (under 40) adults are hitting their 80's and 90's now.

I know that in the three halls sharing in my neck of the woods that about nine oldies have died from last memorial to this one.

And I reckon there are at least another 50 or so in their mid-late 70's upwards in the three congos. No one coming in either - birth rate virtually non existent!

And that doesn't include all the apartment blocks, conference centres, office blocks.

Well anecdotally I can give you four results from the UK.

My hall:

Cong 1 - This year 74, last year 101

Cong 2 - This year 98, last year 102

Cong 3 - This year 111, last year 121 (used a rented hall)

Another hall that an attendee told me about:

This year 117 last year 124.

So every hall was down and Cong 1 from my hall was a real outlier with a significant drop and no increase (in the other congs using the same hall) to compensate!

Meeting Days Felt Different?

i dont know if it was the same for you, but for me when i was a jw meeting days seemed to have a black cloud hanging over them.

on thursdays i knew i would be going to the meeting that evening.

that i would be getting into my meeting clothes at 6:30pm, leaving the house at 6:55pm and be sat in the kingdom hall from 7:15pm-9pm, then milling around for about half an hour before finally getting home for 10pm.

When you had a physical job - like a trade or cleaning. And you were physically tired mid week and especially on a warm day when you'd have to shower, shave and put on a bloody tie - even for the group if it was 70f/21c degrees plus outside.

And it was the fucking Revelation book again and you were the group overseer and had to stick in the "new light" changes and you dragged your poor little kids along even though they had school the next day and you KNEW the seven trumpets of Revelation were NOTHING to do with CEDAR FUCKING POINT OHIO CONVENTIONS!

What a shitty, foolish, idiotic, indoctrinated parent I was ...
