  We Brits know how to put on a show don't we? And for me the American Bishop was brilliant. If you are going to preach "Christian Love" then do it with passion and style.

  I enjoyed watching William and Kate's marriage - she's lovely too - but he is the future King and it had to be a bit more formal and "British stiff upper lip" - this one was more human which I think reflected the personalities of the couple and because Harry is very unlikely to become King he can throw himself into charitable good stuff. Meghan Markle is lovely as well!

  The two lads - having lost their mother at tender ages and who actually have done good things - are much more normal, connected, accepted and real than Charles (Old duffer who talks to plants), Anne (two legged horse) and Andrew (Buffoon).

  Consequences for having a non religious wedding ceraminy?

  hey i was wondering if maybe someone who is an ex elder or who knows a lot about these things could help me.

  my dad is an elder but i need to be cautious with questions i ask.

  now that i’ve been woken up from my brainwashed love of this corrupt corporation and from my belief in the bible, and my fiancé is starting to wake up as well, i really don’t want to have the sexist, overused, impersonal talk outline used for my wedding ceremony by some elder who is trying to show off his talk giving skills.

  I think your main worry will be close family and their attitudes.

  I know of a couple who I believe are still jw's who eloped in the middle of the night in the early 1980's, went to Gretna Green and married in a civil ceromony and came back to the hall. Fait Accompli.

  I know another jw couple who did the same but went off to Paris!

  All they got was a verbal bollocking but no reproof or anything. The last couple - he became a pioneer a year later and then a few years after that MS then Elder.

  As far as anyone knows the above couples had "clean" courtships in jw terms too. Just didn't want the hassle of a formal jw wedding.

  Also I knew of couples who were "dealt with" by elders for sex before marriage and so not allowed to use the KH and so had a civil non-religious ceremony.

  yes, it is just a tractor.

  however, for me it was the last step in me actually realizing my dream of becoming a farmer.

  Evening gala/ball

  can anyone tell me when, and why jehovahs witnesses hold evening gala,s / ball with full tuxedo,s and evening gowns ?

  is it uk only as i have heard family throughout the uk attend these events (jw only) of course !.

  what is the purpose of these events and how long have the dubs being doing so ?

  Never been to one but have a now married friend who used to on occasion. They seem to largely be singles and divorcees often not "appointed as E/MS" - maybe a few married with no kids who like to socialise and my friend would travel quite long distances (in UK terms) to go - sort of 50 - 100 miles - as they tended to be held in the catchment areas of London, Birmingham, Manchester or some other major city.

  Dunno about Scotland - maybe they put on a kilt and dance round swords!

  a grandfather murdered his wife, daughter and 4 grandkids.. the father says his kids are in a "new system" and says his god is "jehovah".

  the grandparents lived on a farm and called it their "foreever farm".

  who has been out of the cult the longest ?.

  i'll start--i resigned in 1971, but attended occasionally as a non-interested husband to keep the wife sweet, untill my last circuit assembly in autumn 1980. no connection with the cult since then.

  so--its either 47 or 38 years, depending on how you see it.. which begs the question--why am i on this site now ?.

  this perfectly encapsulates the behaviour and opinions of the left and dave rubin nails it - "you're not oppressed, you're entitled".. lots of of shouting and claims of being denied rights to speak but nothing really to say when given a mic, just endless shouting and baseless confused claims about 'free speech'.

  hey, some blm bitches try and get in on it too because, why not.. constant "i have a question, i have a question ..." as though she isn't allowed to ask it when the reality is she really has nothing to say, she just wants to stop other people being able to talk.

  I thought she was a shrill and irritating young woman BUT forgetting who presented the view (her and the two chanting women) that hate speech can incite violence it is sadly true and Rubin DIDN'T answer that specific question.

  A line should be drawn between the two polarised views expressed. Does anyone here think that (as has happened in the UK) that gangs of (often) young disaffected non working young men in their late teens can stand outside the homes of and shout and laugh at disabled people or downs syndrome people without the government using its power to intervene?

  I think the problem also is in describing views as "left and right". Some of my views chime with the traditional right (no where near extreme), some with the traditional left (no where near the extreme) and most are probably in the middle.
