This is interesting because I was wondering why nobody has come around here. I am definitely considered inactive (I think, haven't been back since January) but I was thinking 'this is to easy'. Everyone just let me go. I'm still friends with a couple of JW's from the hall but I don't talk to them about all of this stuff and they still come around our family because they like us. It's funny, they don't try to get me back either? I'm not sure what's going on in my case. How would elders react to the unbelieving mate telling them to stay away from his family? That's what my husband did, told them flat out to stay away. Are they actually honoring that in my case? My kids aren't baptized only me. And because I and my family were so well liked in the hall, could that be a reason the brothers are leaving me alone? I'm puzzled because on one side I hear all of these horror stories about leaving and in my case it's been really easy. It proves inconcistencies in the org at the very least. Can you answer any of these questions for me? Thanks.......wf

Good morning! Your all wrong! Don't you know Jehovah's chariot is moving forward! It's not up to us to speculate on why Jehovah does what he does! Just stay on the chariot and you wont be left behind! I guess we fell off a while ago! Sorry scott77 if I posted old info, I'll look for the other post on it............

So a good friend of mine e-maild me today with this information. Aparently brother Hurd says as of 2010 all the magazine printing and distribution will be moved to Canada. The only printing the US will do is the books. Now I didn't check the boards to see if this info is already on here (I'm still pretty knew) but wanted to pass it along. What is going on? It seems for decades nothing happens and the minute I get out everything happens! Oh well, at least we get to hear about it first!....wildflower

Bible Canon
by allelsefails inhas anyone done any personal research on how the bible canon was selected?

I'm getting to that, calm down! I just asked a question is all. It just seems that people want to 'believe' this or that and I want to know why. To me all knowledge can be discredited or credited depending on who you talk to. I don't want to end up 'believing' one thing or the other, I just found this stuff interesting. I plan on reading everything you posted for enjoyment, thank you.

Lost Books of the Bible
The 20th century witnessed the recovery of some of the most significant and intriguing records of human history. From lost biblical texts of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the translation of thousands of Sumerian tablets, to the Gnostic and New Testament finds of Egypt's Nag Hammadi Library, a growing body of evidence suggests that the chain of knowledge linking ancient wisdom with our modern world has, in fact, been broken on more than one occasion. Each time the records of our past have been deleted, hidden, or reworded, the mystery of who we are has only been confused further.
As so much of the way we view our present is based upon an incomplete understanding of our past, it should come as no surprise that many of our scientific principles, medical practices, spiritual understandings, and historic facts-as well as how they serve us-also remain incomplete. Perhaps one of the greatest interruptions in our chain of knowledge resulted from the biblical edits of the early Christian Church in the fourth century.
Scholars openly acknowledge the editing and deletion of material from the early Christian texts by a panel that was convened to establish Church doctrine in 325 c.e. Under the direction of the Roman Emperor Constantine, the bishops, clergy, and historians that formed the Council of Nice were presented with the daunting task of converting centuries of disparate religious works into a single document that would be meaningful to the people of their time. Taking into consideration a loose assemblage of parables, teachings, and historic records, many of the books that came to their attention were redundant and poorly written, with overlapping versions and repeated stories. In some instances, the Council found the texts to be so mystical that they were believed to be beyond any practical value. Such was the case with the Book of Enoch. As a result of their efforts, the Council recommended that at least 45 documents be removed. The outcome remains with us today in the form of one of the most powerful and controversial books in the history of our world, the Holy Bible.
It's clear from the letters left behind by the Council's members that the original edits were well intended. When asked why he chose to translate and publish such ancient texts rather than his own contemporary works, for example, the Archbishop of Canterbury Wake replied, "Because I hoped that such writings as these would find a more general and unprejudiced acceptance with all sorts of men than anything that could be written by anyone no living." How could the members of the Nicean Council have known that the book they would produce would eventually become the basis for one of the great religions of the world and be considered the most sacred book for over one-third of the world's population? (I never thought of it that way before, it's not like they were looking into the future, they were putting something together for THEIR TIME AND PEOPLE! Add this info with what I sent the other day and it makes a little bit more sense!)
In recent years, many of the books that were removed during the fourth-century edits have been recovered, translated, and made available to the general public. To the best of my knowledge, there is no single compilation containing all of the texts in their original order, as the translations are the result of different authors working in different languages over the centuries. There are, however, groups of translations that have been made available from time to time, such as a compilation of lost biblical books published early in the 20th century. Following is a partial listing of books that are now known to have been removed during the edits of the Council of Nice.
Letters of Herod and Pilate
Trallians
Romans
Polycarp
Philidelphians
Philippians
Paul and Thecla
Paul and Seneca

II Infancy
Ephesians
I Hermas-Visions
II Hermas-Commands
III Hermas-Similtudes
The Apostle's Creed

While many of the books listed above were relegated to obscurity following their removal, a number of others were not. Considered to be secondary, or supporting documents, the following is a partial listing of texts that are typically reserved for scholars.
The First Book of Adam and Eve
The Second Book of Adam and Eve
The Book of Enoch
The Psalms of Solomon
The Odes of Solomon
The Fourth Book of Maccabees
The Story of Ahikar

2009 Drama Synopsis and Comments
by jabberwock inthis year's drama was based on the parable of the prodigal son.
the theme was "your brother was dead and came to life".
as some have probably heard, it is a modern day story based on that parable, so there are no fancy costumes or fake beards.. .

I'm with Burns dog! Unbelievable, has any of that EVER happened to even one person on this board? But if the guy needed some type of ritual like the JW one to stay out of trouble then he should go back! I don't need a ritual of religion to keep me out of trouble! Thanks for the summary of this drama and I am soooooo grateful I wont see that in person!

This year's drama of the prodigal son
by JimmyPage inthis year's prodigal son drama is like a "cult 101" class.
if you leave "the truth" (tm) bad things will happen to you- you will end up in a car wreck because your friends will be driving drunk.
no witnesses ever drive under the influence!

It's funny MS, how all my time as a JW watching this happen, it never even entered my mind to 'call the cops', and yet we were suppose to be the only people on earth who cared more than anyone else about human life! At now that I'm getting out and my emotions and feelings and a deep love for life and others lives is returning to me, it bothers me now! And yes, if and when I know he does this again I will call the cops! Unfortunately, because of my fade, we don't hang out as much anymore but I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

I have a JW friend and I can't tell you how many times a month he drives completely drunk! He's never been caught, I guess that's Jehovah looking out for him. Sometimes I feel like anonymously calling the cops when I know he's doing this just to make him make a dicission to either live by JW rules or not. Of course, it's not just JW rules it's the law and he's breaking it! It's quite dangerous. But it makes me crazy to see someone like him, live sort of a double life and yet when I try to talk to him about things in this org, he wont even hear it, like what I'm doing is worse than driving drunk! Just thought I'd throw this in here........
