P.S. The first thing I did though was celebrate my daughters 13th B-day and my son's 19th B-day which was on the 4th of July. Two celebrations in one! And I'm looking forward to at least carving a pumpkin this year for Halloween. Just always thought that would be fun. X-mas I'm still not crazy about. To commercial for me.......wf

Ladies, what are you worth?
by sacolton inif we still lived in the time when men offered your father animals in exchange for your hand in marriage ... what would you say is a fair trade for you?.
would you be flattered if a man offered your father 500 cattle for you?.

Burning literature (pics) and police called on Snakes :P
by SnakesInTheTower inso for some time i have been threatening to burn my remaining watchtower literature.
i had gotten rid of two bookcases worth via a thread or two here, mailing it to various jwders for (hopefully) nefarious purposes.
i was down to one last 32 gallon rubbermaid container.

Jeremiah 7:31
"And Snakes, built the High Places of BBQ, which is in the valley of his backyard, in order to burn the Watchtower Society Library in the fire, a thing that the neighbors and the local law enforcement had not commanded, but which had come up in his heart".
You are completely in line with scripture on this one snakes and you have my full support. In fact I admire your theocratic determination and want to be more like you! Thank you for such a fine example that you have set for all of us. You are a fine pillar and asset in your community!

scripturally free to remarry secret!!!
by asilentone ini know a brother that was not scripturally free to remarry to the best of his knowledge, his ex wife was disfellowshipped in another state, his ex wife did not contact him letting him know that he is scripturally free to remarry, but the elders at his congregation knew about it, but they chose to keep it a secret from him for whatever reason???.
he did not know about it after one year after the fact!
he learned about it from a brother from another state.

Download BOE letters 1981 - 2006
Ok, go to these letters. On the bottom of the page you can type in the page number you want so type in pages 180-182. It should be a letter to the BOE on remarriage. I've read it a dozen times and still don't quite get it and it doesn't sound like what I always thought were the rules. Very interesting though. If the page number thing doesn't work it is the July 20th, 1998 letter. I'd like to hear some thoughts.........wf

Thanks dogpatch for the pictures. New York will never look the same. I get sad when they show the skyline on tv now minus the towers. Brings back the 911 feelings for me..........wf

I swear the Sooners drove me to drink more that night! Maybe next time. Maybe it's the size of the stadium that get them all freaked out. Maybe they thought it was a Bowl game already?? I still love the Sooners!!.........wf

My Story
by ~Jen~ ini was raised a jw by very strict parents who, in my early teen years were physically and then later emotionally abusive all the while with my dad being and elder (and he still is).
i didn't want to be a jw then but my life was all about making my parents happy which started with me being baptized at 13. my parents constantly drilled into my head that most things were "bad" and i was "bad" i constantly did whatever i could to avoid being bad.
i had no life but then met a nice jw boy when i was 17. against my better judgement, i stayed with him and married him when i was 20. i didn't have a lot in common with him but he was really nice and was safe - he was a witness and even though i wanted to be in the world so bad i chose to be with him because he would keep me grounded, in the truth and away from where i really wanted to be because it was the right thing to do.. we were married for 7 years and have 3 sons.. for the past few years i've known that i did not want to be a jw even more and was sick of being fake.
