You know they say Denmark is one of the best places to live because of the peace people feel, the simple life that they lead, the love and kindness shown to neighbors, the very, very low crime rate to the point where they can leave their kids outside without worrying! And most of the population is....................atheist! I'm just sayin' Anyone here from Denmark to give a first hand comment about that? I only saw this info on tv but would love to know.

A Picture Paints a Thousand Words
by cofty inmany years ago i came across this painting in the national museum of scotland in edinburgh.
simply called "hagar" it was painted by andrew geddes in the early 19th c.. i was touched by the sadness of the subject.
at the time i was a loyal jw and my ability to read the bible through a filter that could justify anything was at its peak.. for the first time i was forced to face up to the scandal of how abraham and sarah treated their young slave girl.

The Wisdom of No Escape and the Path of Loving Kindness- No need for religion in spirituality
by OnTheWayOut inreading tmj4477's thread about religion after jw's and reading perry trying to counter ak-jeff on a thread about god and suffering, both of these made me want to post some eastern thought that doesn't fall into the category of "religious" but might help nonetheless.. .
excerpt from the wisdom of no escape (with subtitle: and the path of loving-kindness).
chapter 8: no such thing as a true storyin taoism there's a famous saying that goes, "the tao that can be spoken is not the ultimate tao.

Yeah I like that OTWO. My boss can't sit still for even a second! I am very good at sitting still and quiet and have no problem with having NOTHING to do. You can go to a pretty cool place like that! I think our kids are way worse at this than we were. I remember traveling in a car (no airplanes!) with the windows down, entertaining ourselves by looking outside or talking to who was next to you. Get the kids in a car now and there's twelve devices plugged into the car lighter so they can be constantly fed stuff to do! Crazy.

Another thing about the Tao for those reading it or going to read it, is that if you don't "get it" at first, it's ok, it may not be your time to get it yet, but don't force yourself to understand. When you are ready it should flow right through you. In fact when you read stuff like this, it should be like it's telling you what you already know! Again, the paradox.

It would be hard for them, BUT you could summarize the thoughts of it on their level. But kids are very intuitive. In fact they live the Tao more than adults do because they are not full of all that life conditioning yet. In fact, as I was learning this, my kids already knew it! As adults we have a lot to peel away to get to "it", kids are closer to it. Here's an experiment: read the Tao and the thoughts for yourself and then watch your kids or other kids today and see if they don't already live/have what you just read. I think that's what Jesus meant when he said "learn from the little children." It's the paradox, our little one's can teach us more than we know!

If you haven't seen Paranormal Activity, this probably isn't funny, but it cracked me up!

Yes that's it Goldensky! You'll love it. Read only one a day and his thoughts on it and then let it sink in, that's what I try to do. Congrats!
