i did security once at a district convention when i was newly in. we had a guy come in and we were told he was some "famous" apostate and we had to follow and keep tabs on him. he walked around the convention site for what seemed like eternity and then just left. kept taking pictures. that afternoon, there was a meeting where it was discussed that he was taking pictures of prominent jws to attack them later with apostate information. turned out the guy was nobody doing nothing but taking pictures. that was a horrible job to just follow and harass people.

how long did you date? i was reading another post by EXMS and he mentioned three years. in the area where i am at, three years would have never been accepted. most times, it was 6 months to 1 year of courtship and a date for a wedding must be set or you were moving on. also, you could not just date someone for a few months, then move on to someone else. if you chose to date someone, it was with the mindset that you were marrying. if the first one didnt work, you had one more chance before it was severly frowned upon.

reason that i ask this is because it happened to me.

welcome and sorry to hear about what you went through. i am not surprised at what you experienced. i have heard it happen before a few times i have been around. i do know that it is alot easier to not get in trouble if a sister does see more than one person. if a brother does it, much worse. why? not sure but it does seem that way.
where i am surprised is that you dated for three years. where i am at, from beginning to end in the courtship/dating process is frowned upon if you go past one year, two years maximum.

Witnesses in my neighborhood yesterday

an older brother and his son saw him in garage and came up to talk.
hubby being the polite guy he is, just listened.. hubby told him about my background and why i left.

i remember working out in field service once with a car group and i go to the house with a long time jw. older lady comes to the door and as i start my presentation the long time jw turns and starts walking away. i fumbled a bit, but continued. as i went to hand her the magazines, she smiled and said no. she then informed me that my long time jw friend knew her as she was an evil apostate. not her words about being an evil apostate, but his. how could he leave me there with this horrible hateful mean spirited woman. actually, she was very pleasant. she told me she recently moved into the home with her husband, daughter, and grandkid. she told me to have a nice day and said that if i was going to be a part of an organized religion, i should know everything i could about them. of course, at the time, i believed her to be bitter about probably being kicked out for doing something wrong. turned out, i was the one who was bitter since my long time jw friend left me there to fight alone.

here is my issue. men are appointed by holy spirit as to be shepherds of the flock. so if one guy is appointed to be an elder that has done something that should disqualify him, it should be evident. but the arguement is that maybe the imperfect men that appointed him had a problem. again, then holy spirit was not with them when they a)made the decision and b) were appointed themselves. which then leaves where was holy spirit when those that appointed the ones that appointed...
you see where this is going.
