My Dad Died Today
by cantleave inhe has been ill for some time, but it was still unexpected.
he was never a jw and i didn't really have a close relationship with him, since he remarried after my parents divorced.
i reunited with him in the mid 90's after over 10 years of not seeing him.. .

where did i smear it? i did not smear it anywhere, i had someone smear it for me in my bedroom no no places. took the onset of distaste for religious practices away. i felt very close to god at that point. i believe it was a spiritual connection.

you missed a meeting for a football game? can i go next time?
by rockmehardplace inwhen i would miss meetings in times past, it would be mostly work related except during football season.
i was always counseled about meeting attendance when it was work related, but when i would use my tickets for sunday football games, i would take three other elders to games with me all the time and they never once mentioned my meeting attendance.
i missed more meetings due to football games than for work.

did anyone ever get a pass on missing meetings because others benefited?

much strength to you. it can be tough when one mate sees it and the other does not. my wife has been at least supportive of me even though she thinks i should come back. she understands my issues and even agrees with them, but always going back to "a perfect organization run by imperfect men".
the tough part is, when you are in this situation, the mate still in the "truth" feels that the other mate has broken their promise and journeyed on a different path. The mate leaving the "truth" has a hard time understanding why they cannot be supported for making rational grown up decisions. tough road ahead but patience and listening to each other work.

Your "Best Thread" Suggestion for a Newbie to Read
by cameo-d inthinking about when you were a lurker, or when you first started to post...what were the topics that made the greatest impression on you toward realizing the lies, manipulation, and hipocracy of the watchtower?
what information found here sealed the deal for you that your suspicions had been correct?
is there a thread that really opened your eyes?.

"I don't have enough service hours to have any priviledges, but they said I can still clean the hall and cut the grass. I told them if I'm not fit to carry a mic I'm not fit to push a lawnmower or a vacuum cleaner."
now that is funny right there.

my own story 2
by James_Slash ini got up to the point where i spoke about my daughter.. so in 2007 i was stopped from seeing my daughter by my ex-wife with the help of her good standing jw family.. my mother is still a jw and remains as one.
we both suffered lies and slander perpretrated by this family which continues to this day.
in late 2007 i was cleared of any wrong doing and i retained a relationship with my daughter.

"Elders children are protected by their Fathers position when it comes to wrongdoing or public reproof. What ever happened to keeping the congregation clean?"
James_Slash - thank you for sharing. the comment you made about elder's children is so true. my wife's family is going through that right now. for an organization that boasts it does not participate in politics, it sure does have its own system internally.
