Witnesses in my neighborhood yesterday

hubby told me that a mob of dubs got out of a mini van across from our house while i was at work yesterday (why do they always come when i am not home?).

an older brother and his son saw him in garage and came up to talk.

hubby being the polite guy he is, just listened.. hubby told him about my background and why i left.

i remember working out in field service once with a car group and i go to the house with a long time jw. older lady comes to the door and as i start my presentation the long time jw turns and starts walking away. i fumbled a bit, but continued. as i went to hand her the magazines, she smiled and said no. she then informed me that my long time jw friend knew her as she was an evil apostate. not her words about being an evil apostate, but his. how could he leave me there with this horrible hateful mean spirited woman. actually, she was very pleasant. she told me she recently moved into the home with her husband, daughter, and grandkid. she told me to have a nice day and said that if i was going to be a part of an organized religion, i should know everything i could about them. of course, at the time, i believed her to be bitter about probably being kicked out for doing something wrong. turned out, i was the one who was bitter since my long time jw friend left me there to fight alone.

How do you FOR SURE jw's Do not have the truth?

i personally believe they do not, but what solid evidence can you provide me so i can try to convince others?.

here is my issue. men are appointed by holy spirit as to be shepherds of the flock. so if one guy is appointed to be an elder that has done something that should disqualify him, it should be evident. but the arguement is that maybe the imperfect men that appointed him had a problem. again, then holy spirit was not with them when they a)made the decision and b) were appointed themselves. which then leaves where was holy spirit when those that appointed the ones that appointed...

you see where this is going.

when in field service, was there any stupid rules that had to be followed?

i was reading the topic on sisters having to sit in the backseat even if it was their car.

made me think of a few rules i was subjected to.

one was we were not allowed to have a radio on.

But heaven forbid, if you had a two door car.......

that was so true. i was always a four door car person before being a jw. we had a brother who owned a ford explorer but was only the two door version. he offered to drive on a few occassions at first but they never let him since he did not have four doors. he quickly gave up offering to drive until he bought another suv with four doors.

i was reading the topic on sisters having to sit in the backseat even if it was their car. made me think of a few rules i was subjected to.

one was we were not allowed to have a radio on. i was recently baptized and it was the first time i was taking my new car out in fs. car groups are made and it is me and 3 other brothers. one was an elder, one a pioneer/ms, the other was newly baptized like me. i offer to drive and we get in the car. as we pull out the elder sitting up front with me turns my radio off. i figure it was so that we could talk without interruption. we work the territory for awhile and then stop for a break. after break i head to the car and get in and turn on the radio. he leans over and turns it back off. it is then that he begins to tell me that while in fs, it is not dignified to listen to the radio. as time goes by, i find this to be the thought of most in the hall.

one other rule i always hated was that if going out, we always tried to make sure the pioneers drove if possible. that way, they could benefit from gas money. it was like an unwritten rule. when i drove, no one chipped in for gas, but if i pioneer drove, everyone was expected to give at least a few dollars.
