Inq of the good giggle class...
was it jw related?
a death?
a friendship gone bad?
Wow guys...
Words fail me right now and I think a round of big, warm, cuddly hugs is in order here... and I"ve got loads of em!!!! (((((((((all))))))))))
Thanks for sharing you experiences like this... definately gives perspective...
Unfortunately, many of my personal experiences can only echo what has been written so far... and that makes me feel quite sad... I guess the most significant thing that I can offer here is that even with these awful experiences we have moved forward, even against formidable personal obstacles, and made our lives better, fuller, happier and have encouraged others to do the same. That's no small accomplishment. Kudos, cause they're due...
I can't imagine the bereft heart condition of anyone, who on reading this pain and anguish, could excuse the cruelty behind these acts. I'm thinking of those who monitor here for the WT... or those that are so dilluded by their religion that they would excuse the perpetrators of these horrid acts in order to white wash the name of Jehovah... or for that matter, the Watchtower.... If Jehovah is real... and I have some serious reservations as to the validity of that... then he has a lot to answer for... especially for the actions of his people in his name... either he has been extremely neglectful letting his people run amok... or he is impotent and cannot stop his people from doing anything in his name.... Not much of a God, or much of a people to be proud of is it?
Just my two...

how many of you were actually brought into the jws by someone at your door?

hey guys,.
alrighty.
enjoying being single.. right now i have a "worldy" girlfriend (note the quotes " ").. but there's this incredibly beautiful jw girl that has shown interest in me.. (i'm not df or da, just not going to meetings.
Well, I just hadda reply... couldn't resist...
Conf... you should do whatever your little heart desires... I figure if it works out... great... and if it doesn't.. well, you asked for it... If your really having trouble deciding... think of which one is worth losing half of everything you own to... that might give you some perspective (other than the hormonal perspective)
Inq of the I hope you have a really really good prenup class...
....i mean is it really healthy to be posting on this forum if you still hold pro-jw views?
is it really healthy to keep posting even though you may be anti-jw?
..... when does the crunch come to think enough is enough, i need to get a grip and move on with my life as a jw or exjw?
Hi Scoob...
I gotta say I agree with Min... the forum is excellent... well run and very helpful... and not leastly.. very interesting... I"ve been an ex-jw for over 6 years and am quite over it for the most part... but, it's a history that most don't share in real life... and frankly, explaining it to someone who hasn't had that experience is a waste of time... so if an issue comes up or if I just feel like it, I'll come here... it's a comfort and a pleasure for me to be able to...
Each person derives value from their experiences from what their expectations are. And only you can speak to yours... I think the key is to be balanced about those expectations... also to understand that what one person might think of as treasure another might think of as garbage....
Just my 2

i've learned a ton on this forum and elsewhere which pretty much disproves noah's global flood to me personally?.
long before this as a dub though one thing always bothered me about the account and how unreasonable it seemed even if you discount the animals.. .
noah had three sons in 600 yrs (noah got it even less than me), his sons did not have any children before the flood.
Heathen... in Alberta.. you can take a trip to the Athabascan Glacier... 900 feet thick, trust me when I say, that will convince you of an iceage.... the thing has been melting steady for years... They say it takes about 30 years for something to melt out of it... ie: wildlife...and it took years for it to freeze to the size it was... pushing that Glacier is a vast field of ice called the Columbian Ice Fields... it's HUGE... and Illinios is a great example of what these huge mountains of ice do... there was an iceage... no doubt about it.... putting God into the equation just won't disprove that.... straining the knat to gulp down the camel....
Hope this helps

something happened the other night that got me thinking.
i met a christian in one of the local malls and he did the usual preaching about jesus routine, trying to convince me that i am a sinner and how i need jesus and all that jazz.
he wasn't a jw, but rather he was from one of the local revivalist churches.. now what i'm thinking is that i've been out of the org for almost three years now.
Great topic BK....
I've noticed quite the drop in active service in my area too... I used to be able to see my former "friends" out in service somewhere in town every Saturday... but now, it's really hit and miss.... it's been at least 6 months that I've seen a group out in service in town, and every once in a while I'll see a lone sister with her bag... but never brothers... hmmmm
Of the JW "friends" I still have (secret friends...ssssshhhhh) very few are interested in the preaching work, and now the meetings appear to be suffering too.... or so they tell me. My jw friends certainly don't beleive everything the WT publishes, and some feel embarrassed to tell people about it. They are disillusioned over being in the new century.... they are disillusioned with the publicity the WT has been getting of late.... they don't like having to shun friends and family for just disagreeing with what most consider Policy issues and they really are getting fed up with being blamed for the WTs failures... My friends tell me that almost every two weeks they are being admonished for this and give more to that... and they certainly don't beleive that's from God.... There's always letters from the bethel which used to hold people's interests... now, they know... oh, here it comes... It's certainly not the joyful pretense it once was, and only just a few years ago....
The only tac for this the WT can come up with is to alienate further their membership by berating them constantly... people get pretty sick of the whip, even if it's the master's whip... even the most sincere masochist has his limits.... you'd think they'd be smart enough to know that if they are going to keep the gravy train going, they need another oracle... another Fred Franz.... but most of my JW friends are online anyways...and the new guy has to be a lot smarter than old Freddy....meanwhile, the R&F feel they have to fill that spiritual breach somehow...and they're doing it more and more by studying online.... that indicates that they don't trust the WT as implicitly as they used to.... hey, it's due diligence... they have questions that require answers... It might already be too late for the WT to "fix" this most obvious problem... we can live and hope eh?

i love my mother dearly.
she is a very good person in her late 70's.
she's caring and a "good christian woman".
LOL @ Min (*pats Min on back) you should check out the post on the "Other People"... now that would blow her mind! Ahahahahahha!
Inq of the never won and argument with her mother either class....
i had someone email this to me and thought it was hilarious.
i wonder how many other funny things there are out there like this one, from those on the outside.
not to mention this is a hilarious twist to scripture!
Well, now that was something I've never thought of before... Well worth the time it takes to read it...
Thanks!
Inq of the getting naked class LOL
in the light of day, and over a nice cup of tea, sanity returns.
the problems which once seemed so big are reduced to their correct proportions, and i am left feeling more than a little embarassed over my role in the events of the past 24 hours.
i didn't realize i had a drama queen buried inside waiting to be activated.
Hey BT...
You're a gem of a man. Nice to see your brand of sincerity on the board, along with so many others here. It warms me very heart.
I had no problem with the way you handled the situation. You defended your daughter, plain and straight. Some of us need a good wake up call once in a while lest we become complacent in our own attitudes... and IMHO, you provided a very good one.
Thank you
Just to note Lady Lee's and Simon's ideas... both I think are very good ones... I like the parental moderator tools too. if I had a young one (mine is now a young man of 18 and can handle his own now) I would most definately appreciate that...I can tell you that having raised a son on my own, finding that kind of outlet for them, especially as they are very tactile with technology now, is very rare. I tried several online sites for children (been online for some time ) and good ones are very hard to find. I enjoy seeing the young express themselves... they are quite guileless, very charming and I love their innocent brilliance... but that's me... I'm a Mom....
