Womenly subjection
by vikesgirl101 indoes anybody remember which scripture it is in the greek scriptures (i want to say it was of paul's writings) that the jw's used as a reason that women had no privileges that a man could have in the congregation?
i remember doing research on it for a return visit.
basically the jist of it is that because of eve's sin, all women are inferior.

I agree PSacramento that Paul's thinking was due to the times in which he lived. Let's face it women were viewed as dirt. The only thing a woman could do to possibly contribute to society was to pop out babies. I don't believe that is how God views women at all. I find that to just be a stupid tradition of the time and just one more way to opress women. What is ironic to me is that the society makes a big deal out of not following the "traditions of men" and yet that is what Paul's statements were. If you look in the scriptures you will see there is no direct command by God for women to be in subjection to their husbands and learn in silence. In regards to family life in the commandments it shows how parents are to honor their father and mother and also about not coveting your fellowman's wife, not committing adultry, etc. but there is not one direct command from God stating these ridiculous opressive statements. Certainly if a couple chooses to follow the patriarchial and opressive guidelines set forth in the scriptures as to how they want their marriage to be then by all means that is their decision. However, I like to remember such things as "there is no male or female" in God's eyes and "not to put your trust in nobles" and also read about the capable wife who sold in the market, owned property, etc. (Oh my what a naughtly girl)!!!!

Yeah like for instance when a witness is out in the field ministry and somebody asks about the NGO involvement, pedophelia cases, etc. A witness can elect not to give the "whole details" but those wonderful little half truths....... Sure makes sense but how ironic they like to give out FULL details of other religions and their involvement with politics and pedophelia........ It's pick and choose folks, pick and choose! Gotta love the logic or should say lack of logic......

KH Games
by cantleave ineven though my attandance at meetings is lessening, i still have to attend so as not to lose my income, friends and family.
i've started playing games to make the meetings go faster, for example, i have started annoying the hall servant by making silly requests such as asking him to turn the aircon on, then 10minutes later saying things like , "thanks for that but it looks like sister elderly is getting cold - she has just put her jumper on".
i also look for brothers and sisters who haven't got one or the books or the okm and make a real meal at getting one to them (its amazing how much noise you can make fumbling around the literature cupboard).. i am running out of ideas, can anyone else suggest something to to take the dullness out of the meetings.

Sometimes before I faded I would look at the pictures in the publications of the squeaky clean witnesses being pictured and make up dirty things they would be gesturing about or saying. Like in one picture it showed a Japanese brother talking to an American brother and me and hubby made the Japanese brother saying "So you can get me dirty Amercian girl?".........

Thanks for FINALLY admitting the real truth guys!!!! I have always felt that to be the case about sisters and modesty. When I was newly married at 21 and pretty dern hot a young jackass elder felt I dressed immodestly and voiced his concern to the WHOLE body of elders. Let me say, if I was immodest I would certainly have no problem admitting it but I was not. I was a good little modest JW wife. So they take my hubby back to the little room and tell him they had a problem with the way I dressed!!!! I couldn't believe and neither could he!!! I know it was because that stupid elder wanted some of me and couldn't have it! So dere!!!! I had to hold hubby back from going and beating the sh*t out of him! Now I wish I hadn't!!!!

only to be overlooked while some other brother who was honestly just a brown-noser or genuine hypocrite gets appointed.

My husband was a "professional" ministerial servant for 17 years!!!!! We pioneered together, he gave a zillion talks, etc. but he was just not part of the "good ole boys club" in other words didn't kiss ass so they just kept on coming up with reasons why he couldn't be an elder.....weird.....

I understand your question. I know exactly what your talking about. I have an interesting perspective on this as I was not raised a JW but it was forced upon me when I was 13 (lucky me). Of course my mom took it very seriously and we were forced to be perfect little witnesses. We followed what the society said to a "T". I was forced to quit school activites, couldn't go to dances, had to stop hanging out with "wordly friends" but the more I became friends with other witnesses I saw they were doing things that had just been forcefully ripped away from me. They hung out with worldy people, were involved in school, heck I had one girl who said "let's go to the class Christmas party" and we did!!! She was "raised" in the truth and at the KH gave comments, was active out in service yet here I was with her in school at a Christmas party????? Also over the years, I saw that for the majority of people it was just a social thing. They knew for them to still be "socially acceptable" they had to "play the game" and so they did token service, showed up for some meetings, and they were still "good association" yet they clearly were living a double life. This was hard for me because being a witness was something I took very seriously (not any more!!!) and I just didn't get the whole be one way in front of people at the hall and then do your own thing when it really comes down to it. It truly boggled my mind but now that I am at the point I am in my life I see why people are like this. As someone mentioned they are almost forced to be that way.

Bitchy women at work..."hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!" Why girls?
by Witness 007 inso at work we had an middle eastern family get alittle upset due to a long wait, i think their culture tends to raise their voice a bit, their child was sick and they were worried, waiting for medicine.
while calming them down, one of the staff ladies is jumping in from behind under-cutting my calming speech with her interference....i asked her to back off.. well the women i work with did not like me "reasoning" with them witness style, oh no!
they wanted me to throw the mum, dad, child, mother in-law, out on their ass.

Sometimes when I read these comments I wonder why some of you even left the organization.....if you men truly despise women and have no respect for us and want to completely stereotype and generalize us why don't you go back to the patriarchial organization known as the "witnesses" and you can give talks using illustrations us women folk will understand like "now when you sisters go to make a dress" or "when you sisters go to bake a cake". You could make sly little remarks during the bookstudy on family life about "how women are good at remembering things like sending thank you cards and anniversary cards but men are equipped to handle the heavy things".......Seriously, what is with the stereotyping........We are ALL individuals and deserve to be treated with fairness before any generalizations are made.......To reinforce the point, if you substitute the word "women" in your statements with "mexicans" or "black people" it would be so obviously prejudice but somehow when somebody lumps all women into the same category and generalizes it's okay? Think about it, how often from the platform did you hear a brother say "women are more emotional than men" well what if he had said "mexicans are more emotional than white people".......would that go well? Or one time I remember reading a qoute from the society where it was something to the effect "women are comfortable with submitting and like to be told what to do" and instead of that what if they had written "black people are comfortable with submitting and in general like to be told what to do"........You see how absurd it is to generalize and stereotype races yet sexual discrimation is the last frontier.....come on people think about it!
