Can it truly be said that it's possible to believe something you can't understand?

can it truly be said that it's possible to understand something you can't explain?.

if faith is belief in some thing or some oneother than onesself.... .

then what does this say about fidelity or infidelity, faith in or apostasy from any thing or any one?.

Understand- know and comprehend the nature or meaning of; realize or grasp (something). Belief- faith or confidence; opinion; priciple accepted as true, often without proof. Faith- strong belief, esp without proof; religion; complete confidence or trust; allegiance to a person or cause. (From the 'Collins English Dictonary').

The bible god contradicts himself more times than I care to state right now, so, how do I in turn 'believe and know it to be true', even if I can not understand the 'why/how' this is so and there is no edvidence outside of the source to prove the statments it/he has made to be correct? Am I just expected to trust this source of knowledge/god/book, because it tells me too and will I we be punished if I question it?

Admitidly, I do not have all the answers, but my logic and reasoning demands that I have proof/evidence in order to first understand/know what it is that I am placing my trust/faith in.

I like the Pagan?Wiccan Way- instead of a long list of laws they say "if it harm none, do as you will". I fail to see who the victim is if sexual relations are between conscenting adults where they are "GLBT", homosapien/marsupial/reptile/mamal/fallen angels- you get the point?

Iam a Deist, I believe in a creator God 100% so this discussion is not moot! it is very valid! only unlike you I have done my homework on the topic of homosexuality-

Evolution is a natural process and yes we see it happening in the world around us every day- My child evolved from a small fetus inside my womb into a newborn, this process of evolution took 9 months- My child is now 10 and can walk, talk, read, write, count etc... this is a natural progression/evolution in motion. So we have come along way since the flat earth thing (sorry if the elephants offened you), as our human society evolves I would hope that so does its understanding of the difference between fact and fiction. If we as humanbeings can evolve physically in our life time then it would be logical to assume that we can interlectually and morally evolve as a society as well. Do we really need a ficticious book written by sexually frusted and perverted old men to guide our every thought and action???? I think not! and more to the point- do you? If I were you I would concider my words very carefully from this point onwards- do your homework- get your facts straight- you must always be ready to defend your christian beliefs because it aint the boogyman Satan you need to worry about destroying your fairytales- Deists are a fast growing breed of Homosapiens and not all of us are tactfull!!!

reinaa- lets just say for example that you are Adam, god has created you perfect, without flaw and designed to live forever, he has plantes two special trees in the garden he has placed you in, one is the tree of knowledge and the other the tree of live (still with me?). Now he tells you that one will kill you........ my question..... why did he need the tree of life again? wasnt man going to live forever anyway? Do we have to eat this fruit with our dead and buried lips before we are brought back to life if we dont go to heaven? does this sound logical to you? because it sure sounds like MYTH to me.

And as for animals not being under "Joho's/Yeehah's Laws".... Do the sun and moon still revolve around the earth? is the earth still a flat circle being supported by 4 gray Elephants dear? sh#t I hope they weren't GAY! thats probably what caused the global flood! LOLOLOLOLOLOL

BTW, Imagine what a picture that will be after Armageddon: Paradise, faithfull witnesses of all races singing praises to Jehovah, little children petting lions, well dressed sister gardening ... and in the middle of that - homosexual bulls having sex - well its their natural behaviour.... (can you picture that on the WT cover???)

LOL WTWizard- That seriously was the one thing that drove me crazy about the meetings- the music- and there is always some tiny sweet little old lady that sings really loud and high pitched and off key ARRRRHHH!!!!! it drove me nuts! So glad Iam not subjected to that form of torcher anymore

In my opinion a prophet is some who speads gossip! If God spoke to me- then I relayed that message to you it would be... HEARSAY! Does this sounds like a reasonable statement to make??? As a deist I do 100% believe in a creator, and I believe that if god had a message for mankind, it would be a direct message, one that all of god's creations would be able to understand- a universal language so to speak.

In answer to your question- YOUR ELDER IS FULL OF CRAP!!! not only was the first message that was written down (book of Jonah) hearsay, but it has been re-written, then translated from a language your elder doesn't speak into one he does and then hes trying to explain/interpret the "original message" to you..... but the original message was hearsay in the first place..... Hmmmnnnn???????????????? It's GOSSIP!!! and if I remember my training correctly- gossip is something that Jehovah Hates!

a few years ago at a convention, they related a story of a jw who was shot during service.

but rather then stop and get medical attention (like a normal person would have done) they moved on to the next door to finish the street.

when they got to the house the householder just so happened to be a (you guessed it) nurse!

JW friend wants to tell me about Christ's return in 1914....Advice needed!

my long time friend recently took the plunge (baptized) and is now trying to recruit me.

one of the first things she told me is how all the "other religions" should be carefully inspected, because they are all wrong, in a nut shell.

so, i asked the obvious: i'm not concerned with all the others, i'm here to talk about your's.

Whyizit- What do you believe? To quote the JW's "stand firm!" - state to your 'friend' what you believe and say- I respect your opinion, I have concidered it, but I simply do not agree, if you were a true friend, you would stop pushing the issue and respect my right to have a different opinion.

Blacksheep- I recognize that same graph to caculte the 1914 crap from the book called "what does the bible really teach?"- that was used to try to convert me- I bought the lies then, took two more books for me to start asking real questions!

What's Your Opinion: Is Legal Marriage Important?

hey everyone,.

so i've been thinking about marriage a lot lately, with same-sex marriages being approved in some states, banned in others, and flip-flopped in still others (see: california).. i recently read an article in my local newspaper about how marriage is a personal and religious union that has no business being in any of our laws, and that the laws should instead be for a legal domestic relationship, to establish and recognize legal families, and that marriage should be altogether separate from that.

i really agreed with all that was said in the article.. i want to get married.

Rachel- the legal reason was during my 2 years stint as an almost JW- so I could get baptised- LOL it was a silly reason to me then and it still is now- God doesnt care about papwork- men do! but the point about it being legally protective in cases like flipper stated, was my main reason for asking my man to sign on the dotted line (he's not/ never has been a JW- thank G_d!)
