since i just signed up and posted a few times without doing this yet, here is my story..
i think that i became a jehovahs witness because of my immaturity.
i had some quirky personality traits, and i joined finding that i fit in because, as i said to myself: these people get me.

How many people did you convert to be a JW by hitting them over the head with "The Truth?"
How many people will you convince to be an atheist by hitting them over the head with facts? Probably both nil.
I do not feel compelled to convert anyone anymore. The best thing about hitting your head against the wall, is how good it feels when you quit.

The sooner one wakes up the better. Some never will. It is easier when you are younger to leave, and have less invested in their lies. For me it took until I was 45.

out at the mall with mrs. otwo, she sees a shirt on the rack that was marked down from $25 to just $4.
she holds it up and says, "should i buy this as a workout shirt?".
i tell her "no, because as soon as you figure out what it means, you won't wear it anymore.
i mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.
im not talking about silly little quibbles here and there.. is jehovah real?

i never really knew any until recently.
as a witness we all thought they were weird.
but the two faiths are a lot alike, except the mormons are really so much nicer than the jws!.
They are both still cults to be avoided.

in this jc the couple accused of apostasy, lay down some inconvenient and incontestable truths about the organization's teachings that leave the elders speechless - as far as them mustering any efforts to refute them.
oh and by the way, do you remember what geoffrey jackson said at the australian royal commission when he was asked about an inactive jw being called to account if the elders stopped by and find him celebrating the holiday?
don't worry if you've forgotten because the couple mentions it to the elders, you know, seeing as it's the very same reason why they're being accused of apostasy, thus proving geoffrey jackson's statements to be false!.
When you boil it down there is only one thing people get disfellowshipped for: You pissed off the body of elders.

i read on a jw forum that jw's came in for disapproval if they drove either sports cars or 2-door cars.
the reasoning was that a driver couldn't easily take fellow dubbies out preaching in such a vehicle.
was that ever official policy or just local nonsense from a grumpy po?.
And I drove it in service . . .

How do you know what John says is fictitious? Were you there when it happened? I know I wasn't. All I know is you called him out and said you didn't believe his experience.
Me using the terms I did in my post were directed at John Aquilla, not you. I wrote them to try to be an encouragement to him. They were not a ad hominem attack on you, just an observation.
