What were you going to (wait to) do in the new system?
by Kudra ini was reading on jwr a thread that linked to these funny indian music videos that weere "subtitled" in english (very funny if you have seen them...) and the thread author was like, "after armageddon if i get resurrected i'm totally going to direct indian music videos".
which is all sorta beside the point, but prompted me to think back and try to recall what exactly i planned to do in the new system.
you know- we all had those things we really wanted to do but were going to "wait until the new system to..." do whatever.. so: are you actually doing those things now, or were they totally unrealistic and fairytale type stuff like "riding a tiger up mt everest and snowboarding down"??

Is Being Disfellowshipped or Disassociated All That Bad?
by minimus inmost jws dread the thought of never being talked to again by a fellow "brother" or "sister".
the thought of being shunned by your flesh and blood keeps many witnesses in the religion.. is df'ing or dissasociation all that terrible?

After my fade or apart of it was to move about 2000 miles to a new town and start fresh. I was very young, and I became involved in drug scene for a while ( I am not proud to say). I wasn't Scarface but I was pretty well connected for a while. I was surprised by how many DF'd JW women I met in that trade. We were getting high one night when I realized I was in the room for 3 DF'd women. It made me sad for them. I faded and kept all that stuff from my family I knew I had it better than the DF'd folks, why I never really figured out. I went to the JC twice while I was in my parents home. I guess if I stayed at home I would have been DF'd. Ofcourse my Father wouldn't let me really do anything to get DF'd while in his house so I guess I was gone anyways.

A couple of years after pulling my fade, I wrote my DA letter. I was emotionally and mentally and being physically out for years. I wanted to formally rebuke the org. I had sister that was still in about to get married to another JW so I hesitated. Glad I did, they turned out to be cool just going through the motions. It softened my folks up a lot seeing my fade and seeing her go to college get married but not interested in more than the bare minimums. I was actually in the wedding at the KH imagine that, LOL. Privatley I have been able to criticize the org and share my true beliefs without being an Apostate. I dont' think they'd be so open to my thoughts if I DA'd. I saved my DA letter 8 years ago and recently found it. I was going to save it till the day my last parent died and send it then. If my sis stays in I guess there goes that theory. We do lots of family stuff together and they let me bring my girlfriends around like normal family. I guess I am so faded they can count it as field service time when we are having a cook out. :) It's a win-win.

I heard the Smurfs and a few Treasure Trolls were the cause of the earthquake. Something about an underground laberynth they are building to store all the apostate literature they print.

Would I still be a JW in Europe?
by Brocephus inso some of the interesting things i have learned from this forum:.
1. italy jw's have powerful powers to predict earthquakes and other natural disasters.. 2. spain jw's have choir with cool uniforms and preform at assembly halls.. 3. danish jw's drank light beer until very recently at their conventions.. so i pose this question: are european jw's given more slack than american counterparts?
do you think a european jw would be shocked at the rigidness of american jw's?

So I pose this question: Are European JW's given more slack than American Counterparts? Do you think a European JW would be shocked at the rigidness of American JW's? I guess I am feeling that maybe JW's are a bit more mainstream in other countries than in the U.S.
Bonus question: Is there a country where a JW can get away with a little pre-marital hokey pokey?

JW illness
by Rosey ini don't mean an illness that makes you a jw ;) that would be scary.. i was wondering if everyone else felt that there was a huge amount of illness within the borg.......if there still is?.
when i was a jw i remember there being a magazine about cfs (chronic fatigue syndrome) and me ( mylo encephalitis?
something like that) and at the time hearing a report on the radio that said it was on the increase and particularly among people in caring professions such as nurses, home workers, and jw's.

Breaking free and closure...
by RaraAvis ini have only been posting on this site for a short time, and haven't completely decided how i feel about it.
i have found it interesting to say the least, and have learned a lot from members such as andersonsinfo and others.
i have felt compassion for many who have posted here, have felt out of the loop by many others who have formed tight "friendships" with each other here, have been shocked by some users, have been inspired by others ... you get the idea... i have had a full spectrum of thoughts more or less.. however.... the one feeling i get the most is it reminds me of divorce, or when you split off from someone who mattered to you and you can't seem to let go.

This thread has made me think as I was recently involved in a semi-heated debate about suing the WTS. My opponet wanted to sue for damages inflicted upon them for being shunned and treated bad by their JW family. As f-cked up as I think they are I took the side that as long as children were not being hurt emotionally or physically, it's the JW's right to do as they do. I was a little shocked by how many freedom loving, open minded, probably liberal (politically) and rational folks disagreed with me on this issue. So my thought is......
Do those that want to see the WTS fail desire this as a means to get closure more than anything?
Personally, I appreciate the WTS for keeping the crazies off the road and out of the bars. Seriously think of some of the odd balls you knew in your Hall and imagine them in a bar on a good drunk with no Watchtower to tell them what to think and do.

How long were you in Ra?
If you were a lifer or Raised JW, I recommend counseling and deprogramming. Then I recommend
you seriously consider giving God another shot and asking him for a personal relationship. I can make some recomendations if you wish. Just email [email protected] Good luck.

ARE YOU BEING MONITORED BY BETHEL? (not really!!)
by AllTimeJeff inthis is for anyone who cares... just my thoughts and opinions, which have slightly changed since i have left the cult.
a poster named melita said some really inappropriate things on barbara andersons thread on jaracz's stroke, which got me to finally post this, just to put it out there...... when i first left, i was scared s*itless that i was being monitored and watched by bethel for reading and posting here.
and i bet i am.
