i just thought i'd put this to the multitude and invite your suggestions or some feedback, as i am thinking about forming a support group for ex jw people in my area.
my motive is based on my own experience when exiting the borg...and how isolated and lonely i felt when i left.
i was lucky enough to have one family member who had left the borg a few years before me.
Well I found out about this local group after the fact (long after) but someone here may be able to help you out. I haven't been too involved lately because it seems to focus on the pathology more than the healing, but you can check out their site, maybe post on that board and stuff:
we have had some posts concerning body size, build and weight and it seems to be an issue that concerns many of us.
well ok i am tired of complaining about feeling out of shape and i am finally ready to do something about it.
i started jogging tonight not a whole lot (1 1/2 miles in a jog/walk combo).
Hungry, two things that stand out are the dairy intake and shrimp. Even if it is skim milk I would cut down on it. Now do you have any issues with energy? (not enough) Also do you know what form the minerals are in and how much there is in the multiple you take? Even if it's "chelated" it's nice but isn't specific, you'll want to look for words like citrate, gluconate and what have you, if it indicates that. Email me if you want to know more.
what the hell is this guy thinking!?.
(reuters) - citing a classified pentagon report, the los angeles times reported on saturday that the bush administration has told the defense department to prepare, on a contingency basis, plans to use nuclear weapons against at least seven countries.
the military was also directed to build smaller nuclear weapons for use in certain battlefield situations, the newspaper reported.
I remember watching footage of the hearings on the Waco, TX thing with the Branch Davidians and this one ex-Delta Force big shot guy said they (the gubment guys) basically had an "oh sh*t" contingency. Atleast it's more intelligent than that. Whether it's good or bad, who knows.
Hey, that's a bit more on topic anyways.
hey, jehovah the god of jws gets trashed big time here, he gets called all kinds of names, he gets his face rubbed in the gutter all the time.
now, this is somebody's god!
but no matter, it is allowed!.
We expect JWs to tolerate shitty names thrown at their God, but "God forbid" we call each other those very names! This makes no sense!
Sound like the tactic they used for O.J. Simpson. But seriously, it's simply that people have egos, issues and nothing better to do, like any other place online.
Words are nothing.Image is nothing. Thirst is everything. Obey your thirst.
i think most witnesses (and ex-wits) will have heard of the "spring analogy" often used by witnesses in "youth talks".. it states that a young person who is "let on the loose" too quickly by his/her parents can be like a spring which is held tightly between the fingers and then suddenly released.
both can fly off in any random direction.. i was just thinking this could probably be applied to those leaving any sort of constraining, or limiting, situation.
(think cults, etc.).
And again, if you're a rubber band you sometimes just snap.. Don't get me started on spandex and such..
what is your favorite movie line?
please mention the movie line and why it is the best.. my favorite movie line:.
"ever since i was a kid...i always wanted to be a gangster.".
That's from Dogma, had to post this instead of editing it since 7 seconds seems to fall into the "certain age" range where you're not allowed to edit anymore.

and she's Ben Kenobi,
and we're in that f***ed-up bar!"

personnally, i thing that the movie "the matrix" and the movie "the truman show" really describe my experience in the wbts.
when i discovered the truth about the "truth", my perception of the reality became really different.
all that i have been taught was just a big lie.
Onlything fitting that comes to mind right now is Bowfinger...
i raised this briefly in chat earlier today and i expect a similar response to this thread.. my opinion is that if you are religious/spiritual then you are mentally ill.
Well there's just an itty bitty problem here.. Belief is often a matter of preference, the same as a person's opinion is. So it seems to me the same question applies to someone's opinion, can you prove it? What do you actually think can be proven anyways? When you follow the logic back to the basics don't you have to make some kind of assumptions to start with? If you really want to get down to it most people have some kind of beliefs that way - I don't think it's all that meaningful to distinguish between religious and non-religious ones. Maybe we can make the distinction between people who acknowledge this and people who don't, though. After all, if we're going to talk about mental illness a person deluding themselves would qualify, no matter what it is. More than one religious text (including the bible if I'm not mistaken) says something to the effect of if you think you know something when you really don't, you're deceiving yourself. Of course even though the logic is sound, many of us might have issues with the bible in particular and religious sources in general, just don't like the source. We wouldn't want to exacerbate that now.. Say, might that be mental illness?
